Hi -

I'm very aggressively saving up money for our upcoming cruise in May 06. I was thinking about getting Disney Dollars from our local Disney store to save for the trip (no danger of spending it anywhere else), but I'm not sure if I can use them to pay my onboard account. Does anyone know? :confused3

Yes, you certainly can. My DH and I did the very same thing on our cruise back in January. We just went to guest services before the end of out trip and told them that we wanted to pay on our account with Disney Dollars.
(We liked to keep a check on the account to make sure we didn't go too far overboard.) They were able to help us out, and everything worked out fine.
I think buying and saving Disney Dollars is a great idea because they add up and you have more than you think by the time that you go to use them...not only that but you have to spend them on something Disney which is always a good thing! :cool1:

Yes!! About One Year Before Our Trip -- My Kids Started Getting The Disney Money For Birthday Gifts, Xmas, Etc.!!!

Yes you can!

I had quite a few Disney Dollars earned on my Disney Visa Card, from booking Hotels flights and shopping, just make sure you call Visa first and get them sent to you on time. I had over 100 and figured that would be great for my DD spending $$

My Disney Store (NH) still offers Disney Dollars too.

(& No I dont work for Visa!)

FYI so there is no confusion....the Disney Dollars that you can purchase at the Disney Store are entirely different than the Disney Reward Dollars that are earned through spending on your Disney Visa card.

Disney Dollars are physical money with pictures of the characters on them in different denominations....

Disney Reward Dollars are "dollars" earned by spending on your Visa card (1%) and when a certain amount are reached can then be transferred to a Disney Rewards Card. Both can be applied to your shipboard account but the Disney Rewards Dollars are virtual in nature......like airline miles....if you know what I mean.....not physical bills.

I had called to find this exact thing out because we are asking for Disney Dollars for our birthdays and holidays between now and our cruise. They said yes.

For us it is a little harder to hold on to them since we live very close to the parks - but we started putting them in a piggy bank. It works better than cash for us!
