just thinking of dinner at wdw restuarants where sometimes dh will wear nice shorts and a polo shirt for dinner instead of pants. is this ok, or will he be very underdressed? of course for the formal night or palo's he'd be dressier. we like to dress up sometimes, but i don't think every night! thoughts?

I believe they request no shorts. The polo shirt and khaki pants would be great.

Disney specifically requests No shorts in the dining rooms.
My ultra casual hubby sometimes balks at this...but hey, he puts on a pair of nice Khaki dockers for dinner.

After dinner, he can slip back into shorts.

For the three dining rooms on casual nights, DCL asks "no shorts or jeans please." Some passengers choose to ignore this request.

There were very FEW people who I saw wearing shorts in the dining room, as long trousers are requested. I believe Topsiders is excluded and more casual, and I have also read that on the 7-night, some people wear shorts for the Tropical/Mexican night.

I dont recall seeing any shorts. Maybe a few on trop night. If he doesnt have any Khaki pants buy him one pair and he can wear them to dinner each night. If they get soiled they have a laundry room on the ship.

I agree with makaylee, bring one pair of khaki pants to wear just at dinner.

Don't tell anyone, but I wore the same pair of khaki pants every night on our 3-day cruise; with a jacket and tie at Tritons and with a polo shirt the other two nights.

You will see a few men in shorts at dinner, but not very many. Maybe even a few jeans, but the majority are wearing dockers/khakis.

Have a great cruise!

And no one called security?!?! ;)

MY husband can't -- unless, of course, he wants to dine alone. Fortunately, this is not a problem. He agrees with me that it's proper to follow Disney's dress code for dinner.

As for wearing the same pair of pants to dinner every night, I have no problem with that.

Consider: at home my husband gets dressed around 6:30 AM. He wears his pants to work all day and -- unless he's mowing the lawn or fixing something around the house -- he wears the same pair until 9:00 or 10:00. So he's wearing that pair of pants for around 15 hours. During that time he's indoors, outdoors, in the car, sitting here and there -- the pants are exposed to plenty of places where he might get dirty. Yet no one would say he's dirty because he doesn't change pants at noontime.

On the ship, he'd wear shorts all day and change for dinner. He'd probably wear his dinner pants for no more than three hours. Additionally, he'd be sitting in one place for the great majority of that time -- with a napkin over his lap! Not much difference.

thanks for all of the info! wearing pants won't be a problem, just wanted to see what is usually done...i want to pack already, and we're not planning to go until may!!!

I think the few men you see wearing shorts in the three dining rooms that request "no shorts" are those who missed out on the dress up short pants when they were kids. The boys suits with matching jackets and short pants look great, particularly when they have a bow tie also. The kids are so cute at that age, and really happy to be "dressed up".
