Can David’s take money back thru PayPal?

Anyone know the logistics of PayPal? If David’s wants to take back funds already paid to dvc owners thru PayPal, can he initiate some sort of take back? If there is no money in your PayPal account, can it be taken out of your checking account if attached?

Just trying to be prepared for what might happen in the future.

From what I've heard on different websites, Paypal isn't suppose to be used for timeshares, and general won't get involved in a dispute between users. But, with the way things are right now, you really don't know how they are going to handle things.

That's why I always ask for a personal check, no way to have funds reversed that way.

I don’t think so in the majority of cases, simply because the dispute has to be made within 180 days of making the payment. This would eliminate most rentals booked at the 11 month mark or thereabouts!
I could be wrong though, if there is some other clause that can be used to make a claim.

Cant take back what isnt there. My paypal account is always at $1.00. Once I get a payment it gets transferred right away to my own bank.

I am not sure what PayPal protection is? Ok. Just googled it. Says refunds must be done within 180 days. Does not cover real estate or money sent between family and friends.

Dont know if the following is true if you have linked your bank account to your Paypal. I think this is only possible in the US.

IF Davids opens a dispute/claim to get the money back, and essentially wins(i've heard that paypal often sides with buyers and in this case David's is the buyer as he sends you money) then the worst that could happen IMO is that your paypal account goes into to overdraft.

Had that been me and I felt the claim was BS I wouldn't care. At least outside US I dont think there is much Paypal can do as they have absolutely no authority

So if there was a charge back then your PayPal account would go into overdraft. What would happen then from PayPal side and what would the account owners option be?

Any money that goes in there will be taken by PayPal. If you don't have a bank account linked to PayPal (that PayPal could potentially get money from), then there is a "negative" balance

What is PayPal recourse if any when your account is in overdraft? Beside to ask you to top of with money.

I haven't looked at the TOS / T&C, but I think if you remain negative for a while, the account gets locked?

Same as any other debt. They have the ability to take it from a linked account. Otherwise it would go into collections.

are you sure about that? If they charge my cc without my consent I would assume that I could do a charge back as well?

From what I read credit card companies side with the buyer almost always. If the PayPal account holder have no recourse against that as PayPal just takes the money from your account and it seems that whatever the credit card company decides is “law” then if PayPal comes after the seller with what law backing them can they do that?

As a seller from a European country I’m wondering what PayPal can do if I have no funds in my account. I know PayPal operate in EU too but that does not mean that whatever PayPal or a credit card company decide is above the law. Basically my word is just as good as theirs.
