Let me preface this by saying I've been sick the last three days. I've had a dry cough that can get pretty bad at times, my skin hurts, I've had a headache, a little big of sneezing and just extremely tired. I just feel bad all over.

Well this morning I woke up to the worst upper back pain I can remember. I complained and my DH said "DUH, look how hard you've been coughing!"

I guess that makes sense but it hurts and it scares me a bit (I'm anxiety prone anyway.) I've looked on the internet and talked myself into having Pneumonia and the flu and a cold. I'm crazy, LOL!

Pnuemonia is a very real possibility - as is strained muscles; a cracked rib; or pluerisy..

If you're still in pain tomorrow, see your doctor.. If you develop difficulty with breathing (due to pain) go to the ER tonight..

Hope you feel better soon! :)

Yes it can. I went to the doctor today myself, I thought I had pneumonia. Santa brought me this virus on Christmas day and I have the same symptoms as you. My doctor says a virus with a secondary infection. Two oral medicines, a Roceffin (not sure I spelled this correctly) shot today and one tomorrow as well. He also says if you live in NE LA you either have it now, will have it tomorrow or you will wait and get it next week. :confused3
Hope you feel better soon and maybe you should see your doctor too.

Penny

I was in a car accident years ago that injured my back and neck. Whenever I get a bad chest cold, I can really knock my spine out of whack with it!

You need to get yourself checked! I hope you get better soon.

Penny,

Ha, I don't live in Northeast Louisiana but I do live in Central Mississippi less than an hour from the Louisiana border so I've probably got the same exact thing you do! I'm so sick and tired of resting though. I "feel" better except for the back pain. Hoping if I rest all day tomorrow I can get out of this house tomorrow night. I don't wanna go to the Dr.

Oh and I don't have any breathing difficulty. I'm a little more breathless than usual but I think thats just cause I don't feel good and I'm tired.

:cutie: Great minds think alike. I was totally going to say the same thing. And double that if you have a fever:thumbsup2

A similar thign happened to DH...he fractured his rib....he says it hurt like Hades.

Humm if I have fever it's very very mild, nothing high at all. When I breathe in deep it doesn't hurt just when I cough in my back. I have a little bit of mucas in the back of my nose/throat but not alot.

I guess I just always thought with pneumonia you would feel like death and I don't feel that bad at all. Just tired and sore.

No way. Have you ever heard of "walking pneumonia"? I have a friend who wasn't feeling right for quite a while. One day she just crashed after being tired for so long, and here it ended up being pneumonia!

I hope we both feel better soon. The doctors office was swamped today. I know just what you mean, every time I manage to get off my behind for a few minutes I get sooo tired it's awful. The fever is low-grade, just enough to make me feel even worse. Doctor says it is air-borne. I'm praying my DD Sarah doesn't get it. Since her emergency surgery in April in Orlando she cannot take more than 1 Tylenol at a time with a maximum of 4 in 24 hours. No aspirin, Aleve, Motrin. They never found what cause her to lose so much blood and are afraid of another bleed. Keep your fingers crossed. I would rather have it twice as long and twice as bad than have her get it.

My doctor said to drink until you feel waterlogged.

Penny

Oh Penny I'll pray that your daughter doesn't get it!!!!

While I'm not hungry at all I have been drinking .......... Diet Coke though which probably isn't the best thing. I'm going to take a few Tylenol and go to bed in a few minutes. I want to get in a hot hot bath but don't know how good that would be for me. If it doesn't get better in a few days I'll go to the Dr.

You both need to go to the doc and get a chest xray. Your symptoms are so similar to mine recently and I let them go on and on. I had pneumonia. When I finally crashed, it was awful. Go to the doctor, please.

I get bronchitis a couple of times a year, and I always get that back pain with that. In fact, I get the back pain usually a day or two before the coughing starts.

My bronchitis hit me hard on Christmas Day and now 3 days later my abs are sore as could be, along with my sides & my back. For me, I can tell it's just sore muscles from all of the coughing - but if it hurts when you breathe, I agree with the others & go see a doctor ASAP.

Hope you feel better (and me too!)
