Can book 4 nites, not 3?

I am trying for dates in march and the site will let me book(no discoutes) for 4 nights but I only want 3. When I choose 3 nights-tryed dropping a night on either end of dates- it says no avail. How is that? The room is blocked for 4 or more nights?

I am at a loss as to why.

Additional ?- if I book the 4 nights can I then drop the last night beforehand or once there?

You need to call Disney they have been putting minimum length of stay restrictions.

There have been reports of people not being allowed to cancel only one night of a stay.

Really frustrating, isn't it? yes, sometimes they won't let you book the shorter stay. I would still try booking the longer stay and calling to try to shorten it (as long as you can still cancel the whole thing without penalty). OR you could try calling to see if you can get someone that will look to see that the 4 day stay is possible and consider if she/he can get you the 3 day.

Might or might not work. But, what have you got to lose?

This. You can call and ask, but most likely you will not be able to drop a day if you book the longer stay. Is there another resort that you can book you would be ok with?
