Since I never heard of resales until after we bought at VWL, and that was just before it sold out, I've never seen a DVC location that DVC was selling also available through resale. So I was wondering, is it possible that there might be some BCV contracts for sale on resale while DVC is still selling it? I don't think I could convince DH at $84 per point, but possibly if we found a good buy on the resale market-if there is such a thing for BCV.

Yep. BWV was selling resale before it sold out. There was a recent BCV sale on e-bay as reported in one thread.

If $$$ is an issues (and I guess when isn't it) maybe BWV might be an option, expecially with the ability to use standard views to stretch out points.

I've now seen at least 3 resales for BCV including the ebay one. Shontell has had at least one herself. The trouble with buying at a newer resort is the seller likely paid much more for it and are wanting to get at least most of their money back. That's one of the reasons you'll see the older resorts at a lower price. If you want BCV, I'd buy from DVC but if you don't want to buy now or want a cheaper alternative, look to resale for OKW, BWV or even VWL.

I have also seen a few BCV resales listed through different re-sale agents. They are usually asking higher prices than the other properties.

The one thing to keep in mind though is that the seller cannot from what I understand, sell their points resale for less than they bought the points for from Disney. Disney will buy the points back first before they let that happen. So if Disney started selling the BCV's pts at $80 per pt. , it's not likely that you'll find BCV's pts. for sale re-sale for less than that. Although, $80 verses $84 per pt would still be better to buy at if you can find a resale.

That is if I understand how this works correctly?

That's very probable, but not etched in stone as a rule.

Disney has a right of first refusal on all resale offers, giving them the first opportunity to purchase the contract at the agreed upon price.

Also, just another thought. BCV started selling at $70 a point with the incentive. So, if someone was selling at $70 - $72 dollars a point, it still might be a better deal then buying from Disney at $84, depending on closing costs. So, if you can find one that matches the number of points and your use year, (which might be next to impossible) it might not end up being a bad deal.

Yes, you can definitely buy a resale before Disney sells out. I have a 150 right now and had another one a couple of months ago.

I can't post a link to my site without being accused of advertising so if you are interested, e-mail me if I can help.

Best regards,
Shontell

That's not quite accurate. DVD has the right of first refusal and will buy back a package that's below the level set. That level is based on the current selling price but has nothing to do with what a person paid. That level has been rumored to be around $62 pp but it may increase with the increase from $80 to $84 pp.

There are other variables that DVD considers, too, such as the number of points currently available on the contract. I got mine below the $62 mark because there aren't any points available on it until 2004. The seller also paid closing, and maintenance, and I already have 500 points, so I can wait till 2004 for the extra points. This wouldn't be a good deal for most people, though, no matter how low the cost. I bought it because I'm in DVC for the long haul, and I already have all my vacation time allotted for 2003.;)

True, I got my BW for $54 pp back in the late spring also waiting only a few months for the next points. I was being generic but no one knows for certain how they really decide this.
