Hi everyone! :wave2:
We are hoping to see a hockey game while we are at Disney World and someone on another board said we could try going to the Orlando Ale House. (The Florida Panthers are playing, so we assume it should be on somewhere)

Can anyone give me any info about this place? We are staying at POFQ in DTD - can anyone ballpark the cost of a cab and where the nearest location is?

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

Nearest Ale House is at the corner of SR-535 (Apopka Vineland Rd) and CR-535 (Palm Pkwy / Turkey Lake Rd). Not terribly far from DTD ... it's basically a (long) block down SR-535 from where Hotel Plaza Blvd meets 535 ... google map link below

The food is reasonable, not great, but about average as far as sports bars go. Not 100% sure they'll have hockey, might want to call them beforehand ... (407) 239-1800

You also might check the ESPN Club at Disney's Boardwalk, or the All Star Cafe at the Wide World Of Sports complex. (2 on-property options for you)

We like the Ale House, although we haven't tried the one at Lake Buena Vista - we've been to those at the Florida Mall and the Altimonte Mall. Check out their website.

The Zingers are good (wings without the bones - not sure how they do that). There are loads of screens and they're always willing to change one of the small ones at the bar to show what you want to watch.

The LBV location is very close to Downtown Disney - literally down to the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd and hang a left. As SyracuseWolvrine says, it's on the corner of Apopka Vineland and Turkey Lake. A cab shouldn't be too much - $10-$15 plus tip?

We're also fans of the ESPN bar. Haven't been to WWoS for a while, but my experience was that it lacked atmosphere. I guess it depends on what games are on - it was pretty empty the one time we went.

I like the Orlando Ale House - but prefer ESPN at Boardwalk as if I go there I can take my wife and boy along - gets a bit boring going out on my own sometimes.

I agree, no reason to trek from WDW to Orlando Ale House when you can just go to ESPN. The food at Orlando Ale House is pretty comparable to ESPN. Some things are better, others aren't as good.

Thanks for the quick response all. :goodvibes

yes, we'll probably try the ESPN sports club first, but if they're not willing to show the game we wanted to hear about the other option(s). :)
