Can anyone tell me about memory foam?

You know I have never had a heat issue w/ my memory foam topper. I am VERY suseptible to heat when I sleep (I am not sure I believe my Dr saying I am not going through menopause ). I was shocked I did not have heat issues with the mattress topper at all.
The first one I got was a clearance one at Target that was a whopping $10. second one my sister gave me when they changed beds and it was obvoiusly of better quality.
I was almost to the point I was crying when I woke up I hur so bad on my 17 years old mattress but that memory foam made it seem like a brand new mattress. I swear by the stuff.

I didn't know over-heating was a potential problem. So is it better to choose an egg-crate type style?

Well depends on the density of the foam. The more dense it is, the more likely it'll trap your body heat. The more breathable it is, the less likely for it to trap the heat.

I've been sleeping on a 4 inch Serta Memory foam topper for over 4 years and LOVE IT! I am a pooh sized person and it makes sleeping so comfortable, it takes pressure off the body and it helps with chronic pain issues. It is a little difficult to move around on initially but with practice its no different than moving around or getting off a regular mattress. I bought mine from overstock, the prices were the same for all sizes. I do caution you, make sure you buy one that is all memory foam, some of the products that I researched in stores were 1-2 inches of memory foam then regular foam. I recommend memory foam pillows too, they do take some time to get accumstomed to but they are so nice to sleep on once you are used to them.

We bought the 4 inch one several months ago from Kohl's. It was originally $400 and on sale for $200. Then I applied for the credit card and was able to get another 15% off.

We LOVE it! I've had no problems with it getting to hot, and I'm hot all of the time. My favorite is in the morning after dh gets out of bed I roll over onto his side and get in his spot. It's so cozy!

I don't know about the toppers. I do have a temperpedic 15" memory foam bed and love it. I don't notice that the memory foam makes me hotter and I have had my bed about 5-6 years. At the end of a long day, there is nothing better then getting into that bed. Its very comfortable.

We bought a new super firm mattress 6 years ago and boy was that a mistake- harder than a brick! We decided to try a memory foam on top since we made such a huge mistake buying that mattress and WOW! what a difference!

We got the 3" from Overstock for about $100. This was 5 years ago and it's still going strong. No denting or mushing or anything. We also purchased the cloth zipper cover for it.

It does hold the heat in but in Az in the summer there's nothing you can do about the heat anyways except turn up the AC. All other times it's perfect!
