Can Anyone Tell Me A Little About Cali Grill?

Hmmm I was allowed to go up an use the lounge when I had an ADR that evening. The lounge tables were arranged nicely so that you would have a view of MK...this was just in June. Last year after dinner we were allowed to sit an finish our wine and wait for wishes:confused3

Vitrually te same experience I had in early June this year. That's was my third or fourth trip to CG and while the tables and chairs might have changed and been shuffled around a bit ... I don't recall any difference in the experience.

I just really enjoy this restaurant. The setting is terrific, the room is decorated so very well, the service I've had has always been spectacular and the food has never been "just OK." I understand that everybody's mileage may vary, but CG is a top shelf restaurant in any setting ... and in THAT setting it's a can't miss.

We saved this for our last night, and wow, what a place. Our waiter was extremely nice, and the BLT flatbread was to die for. The view was spectacular, and we came back for Wishes, as we had an earlier reservation. The food was all top notch. I'd gladly do this restaurant again.

As I stated in my orginal post, I'm going by what others have said in the past on these posts. Enough posts have mentioned that one cannot sit up there at the lounge that I've quit making ADRs for that particular restaurant. (In other words, I believe them.)

I can remember one post that said that the tables and chairs that used to be in the lounge have been removed, or moved in such a way as to make enjoyment of the lounge not what it used to be.

Many of the posters thought that the changes regarding the lounge was because some people were taking their children up there to see the view (or at times the fireworks) having no intention of visiting the California Grill, and with no ADR for same.

Enough about this problem was posted to cause me to cross that otherwise excellent restaurant off my list, since, as I enjoyed the view up there, and having a drink before or after my meal.

My understanding is that you are welcome to use the lounge, but only if you have an ADR for that evening. If you've had an earlier dinner, you can return. Apparently, diners were complaining because the restaurant was inundated with people during Wishes and they wanted it to be a more peaceful atmosphere. I think check in has been moved to a lower floor for that purpose.

The reservationist confirmed your statement that you cannot sit in the lounge UNLESS you have an ADR for dinner. Your mention of crowds watching Wishes is the exact reason this change was made.

::yes:: :thumbsup2 This is exactly what the Dining CM told me. The podium for check-in is now on the second floor and there is no way to get up to the restaurant without an ADR. Since we do have one, she said it would be no problem for the check-in CM to allow us up.

We are planning to arrive at 9:00 for our 9:35 ADR as I know I will be craving some tasty Cali wine, even if it's not the good stuff I get here at home.

Anybody else go there and they have the blinds down? What is that all about?

I was thinking of trying to go on Oct 3- they were supposed to have an MNSSP but have now cxld.....
