Can anyone recommend some good books about disney? I want to get the hidden mickeys one...but has anyone found one particularly interesting or a good read?? thanks for your help!

Bumping this back to page one for you.

Lou Mongello's Walt Disney World Trivia Book is fantastic. Are you looking for the "theme park construction" side of Disney, or more writing about Walt?

I have a lot of different Disney books, many which are available at the parks. I have one on Imagineering, one on the Art of Disney, a book of quotes by Walt, the Big Little Book of Disney (I think this one is out of print now), a biography on Walt by Bob Thomas (fascinating read), and I just bought a Disney memorabilia book on our trip last week. There is another I want called "Designing Disney" that I saw at several stores in the World, but I have to limit myself, or I'd buy everything. (That will likely be one of my purchases in December.) I think this week or sometime this month there should also be a new Imagineering Field Guide to the MK released.

Some of these books you can buy on BN.com or Amazon.com, and some (I think the Disney biography I mentioned above being one), you can only get through Disney.

Hope this helps - I just LOVE my Disney books!!

I also enjoyed this one.

I just finished reading "Inside the Magic Kingdom" by Tom Connellan. It's an easy read. It's part fiction & part non-fiction. The fictional part is the characters in the story, but the behind-the-scenes facts about how Disney World operates are all true. I ordered it off Amazon.com and really enjoyed it.

I also just started a biography of Walt called "How to be like Walt" by Pat Williams. So far so good!

I'll be following this thread to see what everyone else recommends. I've always loved to read, but recently all I want to read about is Disney stuff! ;)

I too enjoyed 'Walt Disney' by Bob Thomas. I was told by a CM that 'Disney A-Z' by Dave Smith is a worth-while read. :flower:

I have a suggestion: Go to your local library! You can look at what they've got before you buy anything. If they are like my library, you can request books from other libraries too!

Ask a librarian! I don't know too many of us, who aren't Disney fans! (Of course not as big of fans as me, but that is a lofty goal! :teeth: )

If you want to PM me, i can do a search in my library system for you, esp. if you have more specific ideas for what you want!

thank you all so much...i will look at borders etc and then in the parks in June. I had no clue that there were SOOOO many different KINDS of books. You all have been SO helpful.!! :grouphug:
