Hi

I am hoping to arrange a trip for August 2012. I'm finding it tricky to select a villa as there seems to be thousands! I realise many of them won't have any prices for 2012 yet but I can use this year's as a guide.

I' not too woried about being a little away from the World as we would always hire a car.

Thank you

My neighbour owns a villa that's a 5 minute drive from Animal Kingdom park:

Paul who owns the villa is a great guy, and goes out a few times a year to make sure it's all in top condition.

They just got back last week from visiting (I catsit for them while they're away) and I know they bought new bedding and stuff while they were out this time.

I'd certainly not hesitate in staying there as their home in the UK is lovely, and I know that they wouldn't have less than that for a home abroad. :)

To be honest I would be surprised if they didn't have prices for 2012 yet. Most people that arrange a holiday to Florida normally do so a couple of years in advance - especially those going for their first time. Even so, if they don't have 2012 prices they will probably allow you to book at 2011 prices (I have done this myself in the past)
I would say the furthest you are likely to be away from WDW would be 20-30 minutes - depending which park you are going to. That would put you on one of the communities that are on the H27.

What are you looking for, size, bedrooms, single or double storey, pool, hot tub etc.

We've stayed in a few and there are a couple I'd recommend but it depends on your what size your family is and your priorities.

I think there would be definitely 4 of us, maybe 6 or 8 depending on other family members finances!
So at least a 3 bedroom with a pool but maybe up to 5 bedrooms.

Hi there neighbour - I'm in Worthing (well Storrington - just north of worthing). My in laws have a villa in Davenport which we go to every year. It is 10 mins away from Disney (and i actually mean 10 mins - maybe slightly longer to MK). It has 6 bedrooms and can sleep 12 people. It really is quite luxurious. It has a pool/jaccuzi and a games room with a snooker table, xbox, air hockey and every bedroom has it's own TV. Needless to say, we hardly use these things as we are mostly out, but just in case you're interested! My brother in law is disabled, so the villa is built with some adaptions to allow disabled guests, but they did really well in the design of them as they are very unobtusive if they are not needed. It is just one bedroom and bathroom downstairs that is adapted and there is a pool hoist. It is in a really nice gated community.

I've stayed in the villa's at Highlands Reserve a few times, and some others as well. The HR ones have always been far superior to all the other places I've stayed.

Davenport is on highway 27
we have stayed in many villas over the past 14 years, we prefer to stay just off the 192
this year we have booked a 5 bed villa with jacuzzi on cumbrian lakes for 23 days at a cost of £1575, my sil booked for the same dates different 5 bed villa on CL for 1475!
have a look here at where all the different villa communities are on this map it will give you an idea of where you will be from wdw, saying that most places are 20 mins away...

Hi it sounds lovely, could you find out prices for August 2012 or let me know how to contact them.
Thanks :goodvibes

As this thread has been reported due to some confusion as to whether it is advertising or not I thought it would be a good idea to clarify the position.
There have been many threads lately about peoples bad experiences when renting villas from owners that have been less than reliable, causing unnecessary stress for those involved. The main point of these boards is for us all to share our knowledge and experiences - good or bad - so that each person, or family, that travels to WDW has the best time possible.
From that perspective I feel that if someone has had what they feel to be excellent service from the people who have rented them their villa then it is only right and proper that they share this with others. Similarly if someone has received shoddy service that has put a damper on their holiday then it's fair that this should also be shared to prevent others making the same mistake.
What we do not allow, however, is any direct advertising - whether it is in a thread, a post or in an individuals signature.
Up to this point I don't see that anyone in this thread has violated Dis rules, and long may that continue :goodvibes

We have stayed in villas at Highland reserve but for the last 2 years we have stayed at Watersong resort, the villas there are really lovley and the ones we have stayed at the bedrooms have all been en suite which can be very handy if there are several families. it is a little bit of the 27 but we are going again this year. the villas here can be booked uo 2 years in advance

We stay at a wonderful 4 bed villa in the Glenbrook estate, and as we personally know the owners, we can thoroughly recommend them.

Let me know if you want any details of it. :surfweb:

I had exactly this in mind and was a cautious in my previous thread. Obviously I don't want to break the rules, but at the same time I want to help if I can. How do I let the interested posters know the information about this villa? Can I tell them what words to put in a search on google? Do I send private message and is that allowed as well?

I thought the same when I read Pegasus' post. I don't want to get anyone into trouble. Perhaps my question should have been better worded and asked about people's experiences in villas and the best areas around Disney to rent them. :thumbsup2

These are the posting guidelines.
ADVERTISING: The advertisers/sponsors who you see on the DIS are carefully chosen. While we welcome discussion of them as well as other businesses that you have information or questions about, if its determined that you are using the DIS to promote a commercial venture, you will lose your posting privileges. This includes choosing a username/signature that refers to your business. In addition, links to the company's website will be blocked. Also note that we do not want the boards to be used for solicitations or for requesting referrals.

If you have a rental property, there is to be nothing that leads to your website in your posts. When offering advice, please do not mention that you're a property owner as it may be interpreted as promoting your business on the site.

The other guideline reminder regards Personal Messages:

NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: The types of posts that we like to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from.

You're welcome to use our Private Messaging system provided you do not also post "sent you a PM" on the board. It implies that it's something that cannot be posted on the DIS and is a way of skirting our rules.
The advertising restriction exists to ensure the DIS is not exploited for financial gain. However, even where this is not the intent, there's a significant difference between recommending a villa where you've had only commercial dealings with an owner, and one where a personal relationship exists. In the interests of integrity and fairness towards our villa-owning members, where you have a personal relationship, please follow the guidelines above).

We have stayed on Formosa Gardens, Emerald Island and for our next trip we are staying on Windsor Hills for the first time and then returning to FG for August :cool1:.

We love this area, seems to be close to everything we need so would thouroughly recommend it :thumbsup2

HTH,

Ali :goodvibes

Eeeek!

Sorry if my post counted as advertising!!

I just wanted to help out as I know the owners and that they're honest people who would have a lovely home.

They don't even know i posted it!

I know it's a bit off topic, but I recently made an enquiry about a villa with a "south facing pool". Didn't get a reply to my enquiry yet (five days ago), so I did a bit more searching. Managed to locate the villa on another website and then searched Bing maps to locate it.
It had a north facing pool!
If I had checked the pictures more I would have seen the shadow from the villa on the pool, so it would be impossible to be "south facing".
This has really ticked me off , and I was wondering what to do?
Should I contact the website the villa was advertised on and tell them of the owners deception?
I just don't think they should get away with it.

Gibbo.
