I am looking to buy at least 2 wireless printers for Christmas gifts this year. I see there are several on sale during Black Friday. Can anyone recommend one for under $100? My main concern is to get a printer that prints relatively quickly.
I have the Kodak Office Hero. It was somewhere around $100. It seems to print out quickly enough. Plus if I managed to figure out how to print wirelessly from my computer and ipad anyone can figure it out.
After trying 2 and having trouble with each, we got an HP1102W and have been pleased. It's a monochrome laser printer, so it doesn't do color but has been very reliable.
I'm not a fan at all of inkjet printers because if you don't use them constantly, the ink dries out. My last inkjet cartridge only printed 6-10 pages before it was dried out because I don't print very often. What a waste. A lot of HPs are ink hogs...not sure about other brands like Canon. I much prefer laser printers because the toner (ie: ink) is actually a powder so if you don't use it for 3 or 4 months, it will still be good as new.
I actually just purchased a refurbished Brother EHL-2280DW today for myself for about $60. It's like the one above but also does copy/scan. New it costs about $150.
If you want color printers and need to stay under $100, you'll have to go with an inkjet.
I just purchased a CANON MG6320 all-in-one on Staples.com for $59.99 earlier today. It's available in either white (to match a Mac) or black. The price comes up as $109.99, with an automatic $50 off coupon. It does not have a fax, but I didn't really care about that feature.
I have a Brother MFC-J435W that I bought from Best Buy less than a year ago. It cost me around $65. It is a wireless all-in-one printer (printer, fax, copier and scanner) and the ink is pretty cheap.
If you buy Brother brand ink it is about $30 to replace (much cheaper than the $60 I was spending on our HP printer) or you can buy generic ink from Amazon that is around $8 for 2 sets of cartridges. We buy the generic ink and it works just as well as the Brother brand ink IMO.
OP here. Thanks for all the recommendations. One of the printers just needs to do basic printing in B & W. The other printer I get should do copying, scanning, print in both B&W and color, etc. I think I'm leaning towards the brother printer mentioned above from Best Buy for one of the purchases.
