DH has seen in the Ultimate Guide where there is a "Wilderness" type nature park, or something like that, south of Disney World about an hour that is run by Disney. Has anyone ever gone here??? Supposedly there are carriage rides every Sunday that are supposed to be very much fun. If anyone has ever done this, what time is the carriage ride??? DH would like to fit this in if possible.

The Wilderness area your DH may have seen could be Fort Wilderness. They offer carriage rides there in the evenings when the weather cooperates. Carriage rides are also available at Port Orleans, just up-river from SSR. Check out the following website:

Just bumping this through one more time. It's not Fort Wilderness. It's a different nature center type thing mentioned in the Ultimate Guide as being about 1 or so hours south of Disney World. Has anyone ever heard of this??? Any Floridians know of this??? It's run at least in part by Disney, and they have, I think, stagecoach type carriage rides there on Sundays.
Anyone???

The name of the place you are thinking of is the Disney Wilderness Preserve. It is south of Orlando. I believe when we went it cost $3 for adults and $2 for kids 6 and up. There are hiking trails and a buggy ride on Sundays. I don't believe they are open on the weekends during the summer though. Hope that helps.

Thank-you so much for all the info. We will be going in November. Do you happen to know what time the buggy ride is on Sunday??? That is the problem. I plan on going to the Princess Tea that AM and DH has a morning conference. If it is later in the afternoon, we will be able to do it, if it is early afternoon, I don't think we'll make it. We were just thinking of the buggy ride this time. When it's just DH and myself, we will check out the hiking trails.

Here's what I know about it (never been, but we want to sometime). The buggy rides are at 1:30 on Sunday, from October thru May, when it's open from 9:00-5:00. The rest of the year it's only open from Monday thru Friday. They say it's about an hour south, but Mapquest says it's less than 25 miles, on Scrub Jay Trail in Kissimee. I got all this info from the Nature Conservatory site, since we're birdwatchers-Disney itself doesn't really promote this place. If you go. please post a report on it-like I said, we'd love to go sometime.
