My wife and I are going to be at Disneyland July 10th-12th with our two friends who are dating. My friend would like to propose to his girlfriend down there and is looking for some creative ideas for an awesome Disneyland proposal. Right now, he is considering doing an engagement sketch where one of the Disney artists draws their portrait but makes it all Will You Marry Me-ish...its a great idea so if anyone has any tips on how to pull that off smoothly, we're all ears (no pun intended).

OR, we if you have any other creative ideas, we'd love to get those too! Sky is the limit. There will be four three of us including my friend available to pull it off. So if you have any good ideas or recommendations, please send them my way!

Thanks!

We have a friend who just did the portrait sketch idea last week and they had someone film the part where the artist turned the picture around with "Will You Marry Me?" in a speech bubble above our friend's head. It was a really cute idea and she said yes, so it worked! I haven't seen him in person to get details or I'd relay those to you as well.

My husband (boyfriend at the time) actually went to Town Hall and asked cast members for help. We got a cast member named Grandma Pat who came up with some ideas. She took us on a boat on Storybook Land so he could proper in front of the mini castle. She also gave us free bride and groom Mickey Ears, any time fast passes for the rest of our trip and took us around Fantasyland on all the rides with no wait.

I def recommend asking for help. Maybe Grandma Pat is still there.

My husband proposed to me during the 'kiss the girl' scene on Ariel's Undersea Adventure - it was adorable, very intimate and thoughtful. The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie, and he had thought about our previous conversations where I had told him I didn't want a proposal to be a big spectacle, just a special moment between the two of us...

I love him!!!

Taking notes for my friend! These are all excellent ideas...keep em coming!

Back in the days before the automated hat machines I asked for a set of ears that said "Will you marry me". The CM produced two sets both which read "Will you married me" and since I was trying to do this on the sly I just took it and ran. I proposed in front of the castle after handing her the hat. After an initial look of confusion she got it and we have a funny souvenir to boot.

Here's a video of someone doing the portrait proposal.

Youtube has lots of great ideas! I agree with asking for help. If she happens to like Monsters Inc, Roz talks to guests near the end of the ride. Turtle Talk with Crush could also provide an avenue.

There's also Snow White's wishing well, he could have her make a wish and then have her turn around to see him kneeling behind her, and say something cheesy like "I don't know if this is what you wished for, but I want to spend the rest of my life making your wishes come true" I personally think that would be super cute.

There are also ride photos. Especially if you're going as a group, you can all make signs and be ready to hold them up as the picture goes off.

And since it's the Diamond anniversary there are diamonds everywhere, he could easily use that to his advantage. EG get her a piece of diamond merchandise and say something like "I thought that might go nicely with this" and then present the ring.

So many options! Good luck to your friend, you better report back and tell us how it went!

Fire works cruise. What girl wouldn't go all gushy at receiving a ring at the end of Wishes.

My friend proposed on Splash Mountain so that he was giving her the ring at the point the ride picture is taken. He somehow got the attention of a CM so they'd have their own boat. It was a "stand in" ring obviously, she got the real one later.

Thank you for finding the video! This looks awesome!

Right when they take your ride picture for Tower Of Terror! Put the 'stunt' ring on a piece of string and tie it to your finger so you can drop it purposely.

I witnessed a turtle talk with crush proposal a couple dapper days ago, it's probably one of my favorite disney moments of all time. It was packed, everyone was dolled up, just perfect. Everyone was crying.

Oh my gosh. That portrait proposal is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen!

I saw a proposal on the Storybook Canal boats. They got a boat to themselves at sunset with the twinkling lights and he proposed during the ride (getting the boat driver involved). So sweet :)

Personally I think the story boat canals is perfect.... That is my initial thought & I see I'm not the only one with that idea... ☺

I have seen ones that use one of the characters to propose. My favorite was they where meeting Cinderella and somehow got a glass slipper in the room with the ring in it and proposed there. It was cute and all the princesses got involved. I have also seen the storybook canal proposal personally and it was cute. The CM took the couple to go ride Matterhorn, ringing a bell announcing them as married on the way. Afterwards he gave them just engaged pins and the wedding ears.

Anyway that might be special and personal will be great and she will love it. Just document it. Either photopass (let them know before so they are prepared) or others in the group.

You can call guest services ahead if you want something that includes anything that might need help.
