Can anyone help me with a Prof. Internship question???

Hi all,

Im starting grad school for my masters of science in accounting Jan 2010. I have my bachelors in finance from University of Michigan already. Im looking to apply for a PI for Jan-July 2011. I really want to have this experience as I went so hard and so fast during my undergrad I missed out on the CP! What is my timeline for Jan 2011 PI?? When should I be looking for positions and applying? And when will I receive word (roundabouts)???

Wow - 2011 is a long way away... good job on being prepared!

Most internships for the Jan-June semester will be posted in mid-late August. They will allow applicants to apply through late September... but word to the wise is it's better to apply early rather than late.

You'll most likely go through a screening interview with Casting. Based on how that goes they will chose which departments to forward your resume on to (so not every one you apply for will actually get your resume, which is why they encourage you to only apply for three - but I did 5 anyway).

Then the department will screen the resumes and read the casting interviews to decide who to interview. Some will interview right away (I interviewed for one less than a week after the deadline closed) and some take forever (meaning over a month).

The casting department will set a general date by which you should hear something... which is typically the end of November. However, inevitably some will take longer and you may not hear anything until the end of December.
