I have some friends who have saved hard to take their two kids to Disney for the holiday of a lifetime. They don't have a lot and they have worked hard to make this trip happen.

They go in September this year and I would love to help build the excitement of their trip by giving the kids a disney goodie bag each. I have some ideas of what to put in but I was hoping I could pick your brains to :goodvibes

I am going to get to gift bags from the disney store and put in each one a homemade countdown and activity book for the plane, some cheap colours.

I was going to ask if anyone is going out to Disney soon if they could help to get any of the following,
first visit badges
birthday badge - because its the youngest's birthday while they are there. Mickey stickers - the ones they give away in the stores for gift wrapping.
Freebie pin badges - a long shot I know one year they gave away tinkerbell pins, I would like to gather a few pins together to start them off with trading . I am keeping my eye open at my local disney store too *** sometimes they have cheap ones for sale. I just need to get some lanyards so I am watching out for those on bay.

Any more ideas? :wizard:

I am pretty certain that I have a birthday badge at home, unused. My DD picked some up from the cart in MK and because we didn't need b/day ones I put in aside. I am fairly sure I know where it is too. As soon as I get home I will check and also see if I have anything else. We can then arrange sending it to you via PM

Your friend is very lucky to have someone like you in her life :goodvibes Have you thought of a few snacks? I am just wondering if I have any of those giant lollies left, the ones you get in the resort shops. I will have a dig and let you know about those too.

:goodvibes

Thank you so much 2Tiggies I knew the Dis would be the place to ask for help

I am getting so excited to make these up for her :cool1:

oh yes thats a good idea too so they can see what there is to do when they get there :goodvibes

It will keep them busy for a while. I have some of those too so I will get them out (and at least with these I know exactly where they are :rotfl2:) Perhaps you could get a small (A6) spiral bound hard cover notebook for each of them. They can keep notes of their adventures while they are there, but they can also write down things they really want to do on the plane. Kids love having their own planning lists, albeit that for them half the fun is putting the list together.

I haven't looked at your link yet, but once I am home and able to focus properly and look for some of my things I will see what I did for DD last year. I surprised her with a trip so she got a fair stash of things from me and I will see if I can draw any inspiration from that. I know that stickers went in too. Just be careful of trading pins on the plane (maybe a wee word to mum and dad so they can be slipped into hold luggage on departure). I have never tried to take them through security but just assumed it may be a problem.

How old are the children and are they boys or girls/one of each? Just trying to guage what else could be appropriate

You are such a good friend! :goodvibes

Thank you :flower3:

The children are two boys ages 2 (turning 3 in Disney) and 8. I don't know when to give them the gift bag yet. Whether I'll give it to them just before they go so they have it on the plane (so yes then need to be careful of pinbadges) or whether to give it to them at the start of the summer holiday so they can build excitement and do there countdown.

Or do I give them there countdown at the start of the school holiday and then the giftbags in september, decisions decisions :lmao:

I have just been looking around he creative Dis board and there are lots of lovely ideas there, I'm thinking I might be able to make them a t-shirt each, I know I got DD some plain white t-shirts for her birthday party from Tesco for £1.75 each and perhaps I could make autograph books too. I am fairly crafty so should be able to manage it.

Thanks again for all your help :flower3:

Yes, do this! They need the countdown first, but having things they have not seen before will be a blessing on the plane for keeping them occupied.

Of course you can do it! I made my autograph books and journals too. I don't know if I have any good pics on Photobucket, but if you peek through my TR wherever my DD meets characters you will see she has at least one of the two I made her. I also did and Epcot passport for her which was a big hit.

When we went to MNSSHP we made our own personalised treat bags with bags we got from ebay and iron on transfer paper.

THIS is what they turned out like. Very cheap. Very easy and very effective.

We are going in May and I am happy to pick up anything you need :goodvibes

Do me a full list and I will pop it in my folder and on my to do list for this visit :thumbsup2

Wow pegasus they look wonderful and tiggies I will check out your trip report tonight and try and get inspired for making my own autographs book. Although I had a look on bay and they had autograph books for a £1 and I though I could maybe decorate the cover as a cheat option!!!

I am off next week, I am happy to pick up some maps, I can ask at guest services for some buttons for you, anything else you might need pm me

Hello, I'm home :worship: I have the birthday button and 2 maps for each park, except for Epcot :confused3 For some reason I don't seem to have collected any of those so perhaps someone can fill in the gaps there for you. I am just thinking, looking at the MK maps: they still show Toontown. i don't know if they have issued new maps just yet, but it may be a better idea not to tempt the kids with what no longer exists. ;)

I also found 2 of those giant Disney lollies. One is Cars and the other is erm, Minnie Mouse. Do you think the little one would feel a little done in to get Minnie  Anyway, no obligation, but they are yours for the asking. I will have another rummage through our things and see if I can find anything else
