I'm doing my first solo and I'm kind of nervous. I'm doing it because my daughters will be with their grandparents and I don't want to spend New Years Eve alone here in Puerto RIco. First I'm going on the DCL Dec 29-Jan3 and then will spend several days on the POP Cent. Not sure what parks I'll be visiting. Any suggestion???

I went the last time in 2008 and it was my first solo trip. It was fun because I could do whatever I wanted to, it's hard sometimes when your in a group for everybody to agree on one thing. I went to all the parks but I just took my time and enjoyed it. I went early in the mornings went back to the resort in the afternoon, and went back at night. The only thing was it was kind of weird to eat by myself so I didn't do any fine dining restaraunts just mostly quick service. But it was lots of fun. Took alot pictures.

I did the Disney Magic last year and although I went with my family I would have enjoyed it (maybe more, lol) if I went by myself. If you choose the sit-down meals they would probably seat you with other singles/smaller parties as I didn't see anyone sitting alone. If that isn't your cup of tea you can always eat at the buffet restaurants which is more low-key and always plenty of seating. I'd say bring a book to curl up with to read during meals and while lounging by the pool if you feel awkward by yourself. But, since everyone is on vacation it seems easy to just turn to the person next to you and start a conversation. As for the theme parks, EPCOT would be my top pick. For quick and casual dining my favorite is Boulangerie Patisserie, which is in the France Pavilion. They have pastries and sandwiches with tables outside to eat. I know you'll have a blast! I did some Disney Days by myself while my husband was at a conference...he joined me in the evening. I loved it, and could wander wherever I wanted. If you enjoy taking pictures, it gives you a great chance to take your time and do that....or if you like to be "commando"...(like me) I visited as many attractions as I could and gathered as many fastpasses as I could to use for the evening when hubby was with me.

You will notice many more of the "little" things when you are solo!

I've gone solo the last three years and plan to go again this year. I REALLY like being able to do what I want when I want, whether it's rides, eating, or sitting and people watching.

I've done many of the restaurants solo including CP, CG, HDDR, both restaurants at France, etc. Occasionally I've felt a bit self conscious, but the joy of being at Disney World always far out weighs any discomfort.

(I also went to Disneyland Paris solo, so you see I'm not afraid to travel alone!)

I have gone solo for the past 10 years almost every visit, its great fun to do what you want when you want. It gives you the opportunity to take photos, visit with cast members and find out great tips and tricks to share with others.

And don't forget that many of the "bigger"/headliner attractions, like Expedition Everest, TestTrak, Space Mountain, etc. have single rider lines, so you can get through the waiting lines in record time, faster even than with a fastpass. ALSO... being a solo traveler means you will have time to smell the roses. One of the things I have always wanted to do is explore all the trails around the Tree of Life at AK. DD and I did this a bit last summer, and we saw some really amazing animals, creatures you'd never see from the main walkways. It was so cool...

Epcot is sooooo single-friendly! The Rose and Crown has wonderful views, good food and no rushing. The gardens in the British area make a great spot to people-watch. The advantage of eating by yourself is that you will probably meet friendly interesting people.

I agree!

We just got back from a three day quickie. You may want to try the new restaurant at Mexico (right on the water). Try to get ressie around 8 or 8:15 and stay for illuminations. We were quit surprised how great it was.
