Are there any tips you can give for All Star Sports? Best bldg. Best pool. Good meals for a picky 6 year old. Any tips would be appreciated.

I'd like to know if it's worth it to pay for a preferred when we will be having a rental car. Currently I have the ASSp booked for 3 nights before we move over to the Contemporary. I am thinking of changing my preferred room to a standard.

We stayed in the Touchdown building and it was really fun having the courtyard/football field right outside our room. We were on the first floor, ended up in a handicapped room that had a fridge. I think that it's now a preffered building but I think it's worth the extra 10.00 because it's in the middle of it all.

Good meals for a picky 6 year old.

I'm a very picky 32 year old and I found lots to eat there, I especially loved the cheeseburgers.

The surfs up buildings are the preferred buildings. They are located behind the main building on each side of the pool. It is nice to be close, but not a necessity at the sports, because,
The layout of the sports is so great...no matter what building they put you in, you are just a few minutes walk away from the main building. The main building has checkin, arcade, gift/snack shop, bathrooms, food court. There is a laundry room located to the left of the main building. (when you are standing near the main pool facing the building). There is also more restrooms outside near the laundry room. The pool bar can be served from inside the main building, or from outside.

The second pool is located in the baseball section, along with a second laundry room.

The food court has really good food. Much better than we expected. The burgers are great, I agree with the other poster. If it is open, the window with the turkey/mashed potatoes (and other similar home cooked type meals)...this is a wonderful window. They also have pizza (ok), made to order pasta (4 types) which is very good. There is ice cream, deserts, and then a quick area where you can get fruit, salads, wraps, etc, as well as pop, beer, wine, candy, chips.

The lunch and dinner menus vary slightly, but there is something for everyone, no matter what you are hungry for.

Breakfast is also pretty good...we usually opt for the platter, comes with everything you could want and tastes delicious.

There is plenty of parking, pretty close to whatever building you will be in.

We prefer the all star sports to the moderate resorts...better food court, convenient layout...and much better price. We find more value at the value resorts than at the moderates. So now it is disney deluxe or value for us.

How are the rooms? Are they o.k.? I know that they don't have a whole lot of space, that doesn't matter. Just was wondering if they needed to be redone?

I just returned last friday and stayed in the touchdown building. I agree that these are the best, and no preferred rate. You are also close to the second pool and laundry room which are usually less crowded than the main ones.

The rooms are small, but I did not find them in any disrepair, or in need of an upgrade.

Also, the busses were great. We never had a problem.

I only stayed there one night, before checking in to BCV. They put me in the Tennis section, which is supposed to be one of the furthest away from the main building. What I noticed is that "far away" at ASSports isn't that far away. I really like the way the resort is laid out, nothing seemed to me like a long walk from the main building.

I stayed there last September with my 6 year old. Rooms were nice, ok for two people, more would be a little crowded, I think. We stayed in the Touchdown building 7 (I faxed my request the week before and got what I asked for), this building is the perfect location especially for refilling the mugs, not a long walk at all, closest without being prefererred to the food court and main pool. I loved the food court, I thought the food was good, little expensive but all of WDW is expensive, LOL!!

My little boy only eats chicken and the chicken was GREAT at the food court, ate there every night.

My son's favorite pool was the Goofy pool down by the Baseball buildings, he really liked the Goofy water spout. Oh, the arcade is the bomb!!

I think you will love it there, we did and are going back this September.

The rooms as the sports are fine. Very basic, two double beds, table with two chairs, place for your luggage and hanging clothes. Small tv and some drawers. The sports has had a little type makeover...all new mattresses/box springs (within the year). Lots of bedspreads replaced, etc.

The most we have ever had in a room was 3 adults, it was fine.

Simba's mom is right....we have stayed in the tennis building many, many times...nothing is too far away from the main building.

I'd like to know if it's worth it to pay for a preferred when we will be having a rental car.

depends. take a look at the resort map:

surfs up (bldg 1 and 6) and the preffered view. you may find that if you are driving to the parks it may be more convient to try and get some of the others that are close to the parking lot.

I suggest the Home Run area if you have a car. VERY close to parking, pool, and laundry. Only slightly further distance to the food court. Being able to see the kids from the room while they are playing in the pool is a big plus for me. The homerun pool is the secondary (note I did not say "quiet") pool. It doesn't get as much traffic.

Having a car and being in the preferred buildings really don't have anything to do with each other...since the layout is so great. The parking is all the way around the buildings near each building. There are places to pull up and load/offload through out.

We used a car and buses from the all stars. Never had a problem with the buses.

Another vote for Touchdown. It is a very fun resort. Also, the main pool is warmer than the baseball pool.

We have stayed in Tennis, Basketball, Surfs Up, and Football buildings.

We really enjoyed Football, and Surfs Up.

Tennis was nice but further away, same with Basketball. We actually got near a creek and a semi secluded are near Basketball.

I am going to try for the touchdown. I have to get 2 rooms due to having 5 in my party. Is it hard to get adjoining rooms at touchdown? To request this area what do I have to do? I saw mentioned faxing? What is involved in that? I enjoyed everyones tips thus far....keep them coming!!!!
