I have never used it, and have just read about it someone's post. Anyone out there who can give me some info on it. How reputable is it? Did it work for you? Good experiences, bad ones?

Thanks!

We've used it twice, in 2003 (well, 3 times if you count the time we bid on behalf of a friend). We won 2 auctions for back to back weeks at Orange Lake Resort. One auction was a Ready, Set, Go! and the other was a regular auction with multiple Orlando resorts and dates listed. We had no problems with either auction, and had no problems whatsoever when checking into the resort--we were even given the same unit for both weeks so we didn't have to move. Our only contact with Skyauction has been through email, but we've always been satisfied with their customer service (answering our questions, etc.). I would definitely use them again, though I've noticed recently that their inventory is not as great as it used to be in the Orlando area. I remember great resorts coming up in the off seasons...now I just see the average ones...and some I wouldn't bid on at all. Sometimes good resorts pop up suddenly, and close to the departure date. If you can make a cancelable reservation somewhere and be patient...you might come up with a good deal that way. Good Luck! :D

I was reading on the TAC page that each auction incurs a $15 service fee... is that on top of the tax/service fee listed in the actual auction?

so one I we are looking at has a $32 tax/service fee, would that mean that it will have $47 in charges on top of the bid?

Thanks

I've used it a couple of times to other places like Branson, but not to Orlando. Both times I've been very satisfied. I heard about it here too when planning a trip to Disney, didn't use it then, but wish I had. It seems to be a great place to use if you can fit your schedule to what they have to offer. If you can't, then it's probably not the best site to use. They are reputable though. I had confirmations within minutes of winning auctions. Yes, there are service fees, but if you win the auction for a low enough price, then it's a REAL bargain. I won both auctions I tried for a $1. With the service fees and taxes it ended up costing $211, but that was for a 2 room suite for 7 nights and eight days, a real bargain. Couldn't have stayed in a Motel 6 for that and the resorts were really nice. Just make sure you know what your buying and read all the fine print, they have additonal fees for everything. I'm currently looking there right now for a trip too. Had thought about time shares, but decided to go with Sky Auction in stead. The only problem is scheduling right now and they don't seem to have much of a selection right now. Hope your trip is fun. :earboy2:

The $15 fee applies to all auctions, to my knowledge. Different auctions have different kinds of fees; I've only won auctions with a flat $195 fee for the week (so the $15+$195=$210... then you add whatever your winning bid is to the $210 to get your total). The bid per night auctions are for $32 fee per night plus whatever your bid amount is. So if you win one of these auctions for, say a $10 bid, you'd pay $42 per night times the number of nights you want to stay, plus the one-time fee of $15 added to the total (not $15 per night). At least I think that's how the bid per night auctions work...they aren't often a good deal unless you can win with a low bid. Be careful...some auctions also tack on surcharges for certain dates...and some of those seem outrageous...no longer a good deal.

Our one experience with Skyauction was excellent. Last April, I won a Ready, Set Go auction and booked a week at the Orbit One villas in Kissimmee. We arrived 10/30/04. We had a huge, beautiful and modern 2-bed, 2-bath unit right next to the pool. Full kitchen with all new appliances, dining room, living room, 3 TVs, VCR, safe, jacuzzi tub in master bath, screened-in patio, portable stereo, washer and dryer and more. Total price for the week with fees was $261! I would highly recommend both Skyauction and Orbit One.
