Can anyone give me a recommendation on a protable wireless router

There are surely some that are cheaper, but I swear by the Apple Airport Express. It's simple, extremely compact and there are no cords to hassle with. It's easily configurable IME. It's $99 new but if you look a little further down that page, you'll find a refurbished unit for $85.

A search of the boards will find several threads on using the AE at resorts, how to configure it, etc.

I travel quite a bit for work and recently purchased a D-Link - AirPlus G DWL-G730AP Wireless Pocket Router/AP. It comes in a nice little travel case and does everything I need and more. I paid right around $45 at an online retailer

I bought the same D link and really like it. You can use it as a router, access point or wireless client. While I'm a Mac man, the Airport express can cause you to have to put a configuration program on the computer and I could not risk that since I travel with a secure work computer. I've been told you don't necessarily have to do this for every computer, just on a computer to set it up. Still, I didn't want to be traveling and having to trouble shoot in this situation. plus the D link is actually smaller and lighter than the AE if you use the separate power cord with it.

We take a Linksys (spelling?) and have very little trouble setting it up and allowinf two of us to have different locations in a villa. It packs easily too, but obviously is not pocket-size.

I have a Belkin G wireless router.It is not top of the line but for what I use it for on vacation it works well. Very simple to use and no software that is aabsolutely necessary for use.I paid $19.95 at Walmart for it a few weeks ago.
