Can anyone explain transfer to me please?

I have tried searching this and cannot find what I am looking for. DS, 19 today, wants me to take he and his crew for their dream trip. Dream, as in, they have talked about this since they were in 4th grade. Anyhow I do not have enough points and in looking through the boards I see transfer or rental. Transfer seems like a good safe option to me. This way I can make the reservations where and when I want and should one of his friends change their mind I can call member services on my own. So onto the question/s should I find someone willing to transfer to me...

Do I need to have the same use year e.g. I have 2 small contracts 1/Dec VWL and 1/August OKW?

Can I borrow some of my points and to add into the transfer to make the ressie?

Is there anything else you can think of to add to this that I have not asked.

No. Just make sure that the points coming to you will be valid for the dates you want to reserve.

Yes, you can do that.

If you want to use your home resort booking advantage to reserve, make sure you find someone with points at the home resort (VWL or OKW) at which the boys plan to stay. If you are reserveing after the 7 month window opens, it won't matter where the points are originally from.

One other thing to consider -- you only get to have one transfer per year. So you'll need to find someone who has enough points to transfer to you to cover all the points you're short. You won't be able to combine transfers from more than one member.
