Can anyone explain the raves about Strawberry Soup?

We ate at 1900 Park Faire for breakfast on our trip, and we absolutely loved it. Thought the food was good, and the character interaction great. But one question: Why all the raves about the Strawberry Soup? I read on the boards about people absolutely loving it, but it just looked and tasted like runny strawberry yogurt to me. Maybe my expectations were too high, or perhaps they've changed something?:confused3

I don't know about having it at breakfast, but I can say it was very refreshing on a hot August evening.

I don't know what it is either. I tasted it and it's okay, but DH loves it and has to have it everytime we go there. I will say, it is something you probably won't get back home.

For the same reason that the cheese soup at LeCellier is raved about. I think a lot of it has to do with the memories we associate with unique dishes at the Disney restaurants.

I dream about the crabcakes at Kona. I can get great crabcakes here just as well, but there is a great family memory connected to that meal last trip that the crabcakes bring me back to.

We finally had the strawberry soup last time we ate at 1900 Park Fare and I went in with all of the "grand expectations". To me, it tastes like strawberries and cool whip, mixed together.

It was good, but not something that I "have to have"...although if we ever eat at 1900 Park Fare again, I will probably eat some.

Tonga toast ranks higher than s.s.

I think it's one of those "mythic" foods at WDW, just like cheese soup, dole whips and some others :)

I personally love that soup. I have always loved fruit soups where ever I have had them. I think they are fun, cool and refreshing in the summer time. :cloud9:

There's always going to be people who love it, people who despise it, and people who don't care one way or the other.

To me, it looks like a smoothie in a bowl. But I'll still be trying it, just to see if it fits my tastes or not.

Well, my answer would be because it was the only thing I liked on their buffet when we ate there! I ate some cinnamon roll things, an egg roll, and strawberry soup. I'm not extremely picky, and I tried several things, but nothing else was any good. Although, I've never raved about it personally, perhaps it stands out as better than the other food, that isn't very memorable.:confused3
