Can anyone else not break away from their home resort?

We own at two resorts. One to get our exotic animal fix, and the other because it feels like home! Even when we stay at AKV, we long for the large units and convenience of an OKW unit.

We're SSR owners -- have only stayed there since we joined in 2005. We're going to stay at AKV for this April's trip and I feel like I'm cheating on SSR!!!

I may have to pull an August trip out of the bag to kiss and make up.
:rotfl2:

We own at OKW and that is our first choice ALWAYS. Now that said, we do occassionally stay somewhere else the last 2 nights of our stay to try new resorts. So far nothing has pulled us away from OKW.

We love our home resort, BCV . It is perfect for us and we love walking to EPCOT and being in a small resort. We did a split stay one year and stayed at VWL, which we also liked a lot, but we always stay at BCV because we don't like changing resorts and I only want to call once (at 11 months out) and not think about 7 months out. We are hoping to add on at VGC, and then we will have two home resorts :). I would love to stay at all the resorts some day, but we are old-fashioned and just like our home ;).

That is so funny because I am torn each time we plan a trip... should we stay here... or maybe try there! We are not DVC Members, but we have been to Disney several times... we like the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, we have stayed at other places (in years past), but since we've had our kids we really like the cabins. So every time we plan a trip I am scared to go anywhere else.

I guess if we stay somewhere else and don't love it, that's always a reason to go back right? :goodvibes

We not only can't tear ourselves away from our home resort, we can't tear ourselves away from our home PARK resort..VGC and DLR all the way..

It is my goal to try out all the WDW DVC resorts, but I do keep getting drawn back to AKV, our home. We stayed at VWL in January and are staying at BCV in August, but I plan our next trip to be at AKV. We like that it "feels" like it is away from everything (although it really isn't). DH likes to sleep in (I know heresy) so I like to sit on the balcony with my cup of tea and watch the animals or if we stay CL go get some tea and a chocolate croissant. I am excited to be close to Epcot and HS when we stay at BCV and I want to check out SAB. I still want to stay at BLT to watch Wishes and be close to MK, but that will have to be a couple of years from now.

:lmao: I actually got on the boards today to try and convince myself to even try for THV next year for our extended family trip. I KNOW that the extra bedroom will be wonderful if we can get it... but man, I just love being "home" at AKV. We are trying HHI this summer but that is a whole different story. I don't feel like I am "cheating"on AKV there.

Yes!! I find my self feeling uneasy when booking our trips to WDW... and our home resort is not available.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to stay at some if not most of the others. But when it comes to making the reservation and they say SSR does not have that time slot open... then I get nasty butterflies in my stomach.

Since purchasing our DVC in 2006, we've stayed at SSR. Prior to that we stayed at PORS. We'll be going back in May... and will be staying at OKW part of the time and BWV the rest of the trip. I am nervous as heck!! :scared:

We are the exact opposite, we bought at SSR in 2006 and then bought more points last year but have never stayed there. Instead we have stayed at VWL, BLT, BCV and BWV. Our kids are relatively young and we spend most of our time in the parks so we try to stay as close to them as we can. Our last two trips we have done split stays at BLT/BCV so we can end up walking to three out of the four parks. Both times we booked THV at the 11 month window and ended up changing our minds at the seven month window and booking elsewhere.

For me it's the opposite, I own at BLT but have never stayed there.

Member since Oct. 2009, but first stay in May 2010 at Jambo House, then Oct. 2010 Villas at Wilderness Lodge and last Jan. a split stay at Kidani and Vero Beach. Upcoming stay in Oct. in OKW. After that, maybe I try BCV or BWV. Not in a hurry to do BLT. :-)

We are the the same way. We have only been members since September 2010 (home resort is BLT) and our first trip home will be at BCV in May. We thought about staying at BLT but since we are going in May when it is really warm, we knew we would be spending a lot more time in the pool, so no better way to do that then to spend it in our favorite resort pool....SAB. However, we are planning another trip in Jan 2012 at BLT to celebrate my DH's b-day which we are excited about :goodvibes.

We love our home resort, BLT, but have ventured out to BCV and BWV, as part of our summer trip.

We won't every visit without staying there for most of the trip, but realize that we do like doing 2 nights in the Epcot area.

The plan right now is to possibly add on some BWV points, if I can find a small contract for the right price. This will give us the option of using it for F & W weekend trips and to add to BLT stays.

We try the other ones, but we always come back to OKW. There's nowhere better!

Started as home resort people, but unavailability at BWV forced us out to OKW and AKV. We've stayed at BWV (home), SSR, OKW and AKV. Just recently added on at BLT, but haven't stayed there. Will finally do so come October.

So, no, not so much tied to our home resort(s) anymore. We tried to get VWL but couldn't.

we've stayed at most of the other DVC resorts (as well as mods and deluxes), but find ourselves comparing each to the BWVs (we own BWV, SSR, and BCV).

we figure we have at least tried elsewhere, so there is nothing wrong with indulging ourselves, and staying where we enjoy the atmosphere, the activities, the views, the staff, the most - the BWVs :cloud9:

We mostly stay at BWV which is our home resort (also own BCV & VB). But this year we will be trying out Kidani, BLT and returning to AKV Jambo, BCV & VB. So this year we are jumping around alot, but usually most trips are at BWV.

My DH only wants to stay at VWL, while I would like to try all the resorts eventually.

I think we will be doing some split stays in the future for this reason. We can try out a resort and then wind up back "home".

I can see the attraction to wanting to stay at your home resort. But for me variety is the spice of life. It's sort of like the difference between people that always go to the lake or beach every summer and those that vary their vacations. Been there done that. The choice of multiple DVC resorts give us that feeling.

Each time we stay a new resort there is some extra excitement knowing that it will be the first time or the first time in so many years. And then the next trip to my home resort is extra special too, because I'm back home again.

When we joined DVC, we were excited with all the options. Our home resort was SSR, and our first two trips we stayed there. For various reasons we have not been back (nothing bad).

The main reason was to try the other resorts. We actually got BWV's in 2006 for the F&W festival. I loved the location, and being able to walk to EPCOT was a treat. I enjoyed the walk from Hollywood studios back to the resort along the canal...great location.

We opted for OKW when we needed a two bedroom, the points were the most reasonable. We enjoyed the laid back feel of OKW, and went back the following year and got a 1 bedroom.

Our latest "trend" has been AKV. Our daughter just loves the resort and animals. How can I refuse when she asks to stay there again, and the 1 bedroom at AKV Kidani is cheaper than SSR, so I dont mind that one bit.

I will say that last year we drove over to walk around BLT and Contemporary, again, having quick access to the monorail, and the walking path over to MK was excellent. Although BLT is not appealing to me in style or theme, it is a great location, and I would have no problem there.

I guess when it gets down to it, I want to try them all. I love our home resort, but dont feel the pull to stay there. I will admit that on our last trip, I went over to DTD on my own for lunch one day while the girls stayed at the pool. I ended up walking across to SSR and walking around the resort and heading over to the golf course. It was a nice visit, and got me thinking about staying there again.

We are right there with you.

OKW is home, but we figured we'd eventually want to try them all. Last fall we did a split stay--half at AKV and half at OKW. It was fun to try somewhere new, and we had a blast, but it was SO FUNNY...when we were on our way to OKW and drove in, we all felt this huge sigh of relief (and relaxation) to be home.

We've officially decided to enjoy VISITING all the other resorts, but we will just stay at home. Nothing better than OKW!!!:thumbsup2
