I'm wondering a few things and don't want to make multiple posts. I'm wondering if you have to buy the dining plan for as many days as you're at the resort (even arriving and departing days?) I'm wondering if I need reservations for breakfast at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian or if I could just decide last minute to do an early before-park breakfast there. Also...if you purchase the dining plan can you decide which meals to use it on? Can I just figure out which ones are the most $$$ and use it on those? Thanks in advance for your help!!

I'll try to answer your questions...
You do have to buy the dining plan for as many nights as your hotel stay is. Your credits expire the day you check out (you can use them all day on your departure day, but they aren't any good after that).

I would recommend reservations for any sit down meals you would like to do. You could try walk up or calling the day of, but you won't necessarily get a table.

You can choose to use (or not use) the dining plan on whatever meals you like. Some people choose to pay OOP (out of pocket) for the less expensive meals to save their credits for later meals that would cost more.

The dining plan is based on the number of nights you spend at the resort. If you stay for 6 nights, you get 6 sets of credits (which depends on which plan you get). You can not opt for fewer days unless you book 2 reservations. The credits will expire at 11:59 PM the day you check out.

You can use whatever credits when you want to. You can mix it up however you want. For example if you want to eat at 2 table service meals on your Epcot day and 2 counter service on your Animal Kingdom day, you can do that.

You can figure out which restaurants will get you the most bang for your buck and just go to those places.
