Can anybody compare OKW to the HH DVC?

We have been to the one HH, and "may" be meeting someone from the Timeshare Store to look at OKW. he said that they seem rather similar to him. What do you think?

I cannot see how they could be considered as similar. OKW is a much larger resort in a greatly more community type theme. Being built around a golf course is very interesting, and boat access to DTD is a fun option. When we visited HHI/DVC, we loved the more laid back approach on the marsh, with the short distance to the ocean beach house being more than we could have hoped for. We love both places for different reasons. We visited HHI just about a month ago and will be travelling to WDW/OKW for two weeks at the end of Jan. - CAN'T WAIT! The OKW rooms are bigger and are a happy retreat from the hectic days at WDW. We like the walk from South Point in OKW to the West End of DTD. We know we are actually on vacation when we drive up to the security gate at OKW and the guard says "Welcome Home". We would love to be able to afford a place like OKW to live year round (with a little more storage) when we retire.

I think he meant, and what he said, was that they are quieter than most of the others, which is what I want.

In some ways, I can see how they can be similar. Both resorts have entrances from outside, as opposed to a hotel hallway. No valet parking. No room service. Parking near your unit. Both places seem to appeal to nature lovers-the lush vegetation at OKW, the many trees and birds at HHI. Both resorts seem to be a haven from the business around you, not right in the middle of the action. Both resorts have super friendly CMs, who remember you from visit to visit (this may be some peoples' experiences at all DVC resorts, however). I actually said to DH that I would find it interesting to see what the percentage of OKW owners who like HHI vs. the percentage in the entire DVC population. IMHO, the 2 resorts seem to have similar appeals (to us anyways).

I think the room layouts are the same or similar. They are the two resorts that have the largest square footage per unit. Large bathrooms with large hot tubs, kitchen island/tv combo, large balconies. When you are in these units, you feel like you're in your "home" whereas the other dvc units feel more like apartments to us. Both units have tons of counter space in the kitchen also, full size refrigerators. I can see why they would say that.

Quietness would be the only similarity. Themeing is about as different as day and night. Rooms at OKW are much larger. Parking to each unit is closer at OKW. To me VWL is much closer in theme.

The quietest DVC resort we have found it SSR and we have stayed in all of them. We literally never knew anyone else was there in the same building and we were on the first floor.

They compare like HH Island and WDW themselves.

OKW does a great job of shielding one from the oppressive masses at WDW.

Studios are much, much larger at HH than at any other resort. I believe it is more than 100 sq. ft larger. In addition, the room layout is different than any other DVC resort that I have stayed at which makes for more usable room in the studio.

Update: The HH studios are listed by DVC at 455 sq. ft. and the ones at OKW are listed at 390 sq. ft. on the website. The balconies we have had at HH are also considerably larger than those at OKW, at least in the various units we have been in at each resort.

They have similiar floor plans and similiarly spread out unless you get the studio at HH than they are in the Lodge but if you want Disney Parks you have to do Florida if you want mostly laid back near the beach buy HH. We own BWV and SSR and book HH at 7 months but you could just as easily do it the other way around.
