Hi,

I apologize if this has already been answered. My family and I are traveling to Disney late this year. There will be 4 adults. My sons girlfriend is very picky as in she likes chicken nuggets more then anything. She is not a vegetable fan either. Could she order from the kids menu if nothing else catches her eye?

Thanks everyone,
E

Anyone can order from any menu. When the dining plan was around, and probably also when it returns, anyone 9+ was required to pay the full adult price, which is why some people got the message that adults couldn't order off the kids' menu, but both of my kids have ordered off the kids' menu while an "adult" on the dining plan and the chef made them a larger portion. Not sure if they're still offering larger portions of "kids items" for adults with no dining plan offered, but you can always ask.

Thanks Epcotobsessed, and Mom2rtk. I should have added that I understand that she couldnt do that at a buffet meal, I am doubtful that we will do any buffets anyhow. Just not our thing. Thanks again for your responses. 😊 She will be happy to know this.

I'd also encourage looking at apps (or even side dishes). Kid main dishes tend to be processed and/or on the low end of the flavor and creativity spectrum. Disney kids meals are not the place to find spectacular fried chicken pieces.

I actually do this often. sometimes you just want a small simple meal.

Food is fine and can run from basic (chicken strips/simple pasta and sauce) to non traditional (salmon and grilled chicken). I’m a big fan of the kids pasta. The only time I don’t consider it is if the kids choice is an uncrustable (price is a bit ridiculous for that) or a burger (only because I dislike hamburger).

Smaller but still decent sizeare great, especially in hot weather, and I do appreciate the option to occasionally stick to apple slices or carrot sticks for a side. Bonus is that kids meals comes with a drink.

She might even want to check out the appetizers for table service dining. She might find something there that she likes. Sometimes they don't have what you might consider the standard kids' food at some of the restaurants. Have her check out the menus on the website.

For quick service, you can definitely order kids meals (at the kid meal price), and the portions are pretty good if she doesn't have a huge appetite.

I know that this has been long since answered, but I order off the kids section all of the time (buffets excluded). As my MIL says, my eyes are bigger than my stomach so I try to stick with smaller portions at Disney - especially since the food costs can stack up. Never had any issues with quick service at DLR or WDW, and I've asked a few times at the more casual sit downs and they didn't mind either.

I think you may be missing the point. Many - if not most - picky eaters, particularly the type who gravitate towards particular foods, are usually not looking for fresh and creative. I say this as someone who has driven his family crazy with this tendency for, well, 30-something years now. The issue is rarely the portion size, it's the "oddity" of the choices available. My grandmother is the same way and has been all her life - she has certain things she likes and wants just a small portion of a familiar food, not a small portion of something adventurous.

So from one picky eater in support of another: yes, she can absolutely order from the kids' menu. I've never even had anyone ask or verify that it's for a kid, just say "one kids' chicken nuggets" or "one kids' flatbread" or whatever and that's that. Know that the drinks will be smaller as well as the food portions. While there are a few places you can get an adult portion of something on the kids' menu, I haven't found anywhere at Disney yet where they won't let someone order a kids' portion of something on the kids' menu because they're older than 9 or whatever. From QS and resort food courts to Morimoto, there are enough kids around that no one is going to question who the item is for.
