I've had weight loss surgery and simply can not eat an adult sized meal. I'm also looking at the California Grill, and their Child's Menu items would be what other members of my family would rather order. Anyone had any experiance in this ""touchy" matter?
Thanks

I don't think you can order of the child's menu unless you are a child. Just order the regular menu and don't eat it all.

I though that once you had a gastric or lapband surgery they give you a card to show your waitress that entitles you to oder off a child's menu

My Dr. did not give me a card, but my support group has one. My surgery was in 1998.

When we went last summer, They told us that I (adult) could order off the childs menu just like if I ordered off the regular menu, but you can't let a child order off the adult menu.

We went to the Rose and Crown last May for dinner. I was not impressed with the menu (dinner) all that much and could not find something that I thought I would like to eat. I ordered off the children's menu and there was no problem or question what so ever.

Well after a couple of Adult meals I ordered dessert off the kids menu. The adult one were too adult and foo foo while the kid one were fun and tasty. Who doesn't want to play with their food with a make your own sundae or delight in a banana split before digging in?

We were on the DP they were part of my adult TS meals.

That is true on the dining plan but if you are paying out of pocket my experience was that any restaurant in Disney where we requested it would let a child order of the adult menu. DD has always been a "foodie" - enjoying fish or well prepared chicken/beef/fish over hamburgers, chicken strips, etc. Before DD became a "dining" adult at 10 she order off adult menus at the Brown Derby, Alfredo's in Italy, Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon, Coral Reef, and more counter service locations the I can name. Many restaurants would also sub real veggies for fries if they had a child's item she liked.

My experience has also been that they would always give the "kids" dessert to an adult when asked.

Back to the initial poster - I would call the restaurant directly and explain your situation and see the response you receive.

They won't let you do it San Angel Inn. My 78 year old mom is a light eater (and nothing really appealed to her on the adult menu), and when she asked if she could order off of the kid's menu, she was told no.

We weren't on the DDP. Ate at the Rainforest Cafe & I was told I could order off the kids menu. No problems at all. :flower3:

Hope that helps....
