Can AAA take over a bounceback reservation?

We have 2 trips planned this year-- one in April and one in October. Both are booked thru AAA. It occurred to me that we may get a bounceback offer while on our April trip that may apply for our October dates. I understand that I must book the bounceback while I am onsite, which is fine, but can my AAA agent then take over that reservation? I would hate to do her out of her commission. I know I can't "stack" the discounts, but I would like her to handle the bounceback reservation, if at all possible.

Thanks!

Shannon

Why would you really want her to? It gives you no benefit and then somebody else owns your reservation.
Last year when an agent owned my reservation it was just a huge hassle. It wouldn't let me do ADR's online and when I added my flight info and tried to change resorts I had to call the agent, then have her call disney...
They don't actually serve any purpose.

I did my ADRs online with no trouble and I booked through AAA. That being said though, next trip i am definitely booking myself. TAs are a bit of a hassle trying to get them to make changes and stuff is like pulling teeth.

We booked our 2009 as a bounceback while we were at WDW in Sept 2008 and when we got home, we transferred it to AAA. I used AAA for all 3 trips, I don't know why, but I had no trrouble. My TA did all the calling when I had questions, so I didn't have to be on hold, and they had some extra perks, maybe that's why?

I will only say whatever I normally say about switching reservations..

Every 'handling' of your reservation is another chance for something to go wrong.

Say for example your "BB" discount mysteriously falls off in the transfer. Then what?

Many folks have learned.. that the more calling and switching you do.. the more likely that something gets messed up in your reservation.

That said - clearly a poster has had some success with this - so you should be able to do it no problem.

Actually - you get AAA perks at the parks, beyond whatever offer Disney is offering, if they take over the ressie. So even if you have a pin code/special - you get free story times, special parade viewing, extra at discounts stores, restaurants, shows, special events, tours, and preferred parking and occasionally room upgrades at some resorts which make a difference to many vacation goers, but I understand that might not matter to others. :)

This isn't necessarily true. The last two trips we booked we did not get the story time. There is wording in the AAA brocure to the effect of a "qualifying AAA package including dining". I believe I have seen this or similar wording in reverence to the parade viewing. When I missed out on story time, I was told that while many disney packages and specials will have coordinating aaa packages (exactly the same but utilizing a aaa code), not all do. In the case of those that don't, you do not get all the benefits. While I did not investigate fully this year, I was told that parking is always included.

Ask when you make the bounceback reservation - you may be able to assign it to your agent at that time, just like you can when you make an onboard cruise reservation.

Hi Shannon,
My AAA agent told me yes. We will be going to POFQ next month , and thought we might book a BB to bring DMIL down for the F&WF this fall. Mentioned that to AAA agent, and she said to be sure to provide her with the reservation # when we get back. The current BB offer is Room Only, IIRC, so tickets/ dining/ etc, we can get through AAA with whatever discounts apply there. And if the perks come with it, all the better!!! :woohoo:

She does it all the time, so call your agent and check on your particular situation.

HTH, and enjoy your trips!! :goodvibes

Thanks very much everyone! This has been helpful, and I'm glad to know that I can (hopefully) get the bounceback and still use AAA.

Shannon

most of the discount perks are available to anyone with a AAA card. You don't have to book thru AAA for many of the things the PP listed.

The only perk AAA offered when I booked through them that you don't get with a Disney Visa was the storytime, which I didn't use. They did charge me $10 to book through them though.

What is the special parade viewing? That was not on any of my paperwork.

If your AAA agent is trying to charge you $10 - you need to find a new agent. When we first started working with AAA, we were randomly assigned someone to help with some non-disney related travel plans. She tried charging us $10 for everything. We very quickly dropped her and found a different agent to work with. Our AAA TA that handles our Disney ressies does not charge a fee either - and we've been so happy with her, we're planning on using her office to handle a small getaway for our anni in a couple of months. :thumbsup2

ETA: Here is the Parade viewing perk info:

Wow that's good to know. I just booked and haven't recieved my paperwork yet so I'll be looking for that!

It does state "select" packages, so you may need to inquire as to what select package that includes....

We're taking our first trip this Nov and have already discussed the possibilty of doing a BB and our AAA TA said just what a prev poster said that all I would have to do is get her the reservation# when we get back. :surfweb:
