Can a WDW vacay be under $2,000 for two??

Once upon a time we went to WDW for a whole week for about $1500 (including food, tickets, flights etc.)...that was in 2003.

Now we are looking at flights and it will cost $1500 to fly me, DH and DS to Orlando :sad2:

Hi Say!!! It's soo nice to hear from you again, although I can't remember your name.. I think it's Nancy?? But, thank you for letting me know that!! I wasn't for sure if they checked resort ids or not!!

sayhello is Tobi, and I am Nancy. :)

I just read that WDW is offering "free" dining again for late August through late September: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneypackages.htm#visa. Even if you don't have the Disney Visa, free dining will probably be offered to the general public soon.

Also, someone mentioned about the Poly and being able to sit out on the beach and watch the fireworks. Are you only allowed to do this if you're a guest at that resort or can you be a guest at any resort on property and stay there to watch??

DH and I have done this, and it was a lot of fun! We got a CS meal from Capt Cook's in the Poly, and just took our trays outside. Found a nice spot on the grass close to the building, while a lot of people were down on the sand. Good spot for people watching. Then we saw the Electric Water Pageant, then Wishes. The music and narration for Wishes is broadcast with speakers all over the beach area. :cloud9:

A $2k trip should be easily doable. We have stayed in values and mods, have used QS dining or just OOP, and have always been around that total or a good bit less... and that's including gas for the drive down! :woohoo: We've never used the DDP, because we almost always go in off-seasons without Free Dining offers. But depending on your plans, you may be luckier!

Enjoy planning your trip!! :hippie:

This is why I LOOOOVE this board!!! You guys have been so extremely helpful!!! We're making our final decision at the end of the month due to DBF work schedule..so it'll be then that I'll make the announcement if where we're going and what we're doing!!!:cool1::goodvibes:banana:

Tony(DBF) is sooo excited that it's not even funny!!! He's beginning to act like a huge kid and I'm loving it!!! I just gotta keep feeding him the Disney food..although I think he's eating it on his own already!!! I think we will do a dinner at the Poly on the beach!!! That just sounds extremely romantic and wonderfully relaxing which is just what I want for him!!

QUESTION: For a first timer...would you get park hoppers or just base tickets?? I don't wanna overwhelm him, so any advice on this would be helpful too!! I'm sure there's gonna be more questions from me, so be prepared lol!! Thank you thank THANK YOU ALL for being soo kind and helpful to me!!!:cloud9:

We do base tickets now, but we have done Hoppers before. We find that with a little planning, we can do one park per day and we don't get overwhelmed or exhausted from trying to run all over the World each day. Saves us money we can use for a nice meal or fun experience.

Something to think about- you can always add on Hopping if you decide you want it once you get there. If you purchase hoppers beforehand and end up NOT using the feature when you are at the parks, Disney won't refund the $$ to you.

Wow. Great Question about the PH vs one park per day.

We've never had to deal with the issue since we have AP's and have been more times than we can count. We love to move from park to park during the day, usually staring the day in either MK or DAK while ending at Epcot. Just because we have the flexibility, we use it to the max. It really never enters into our planning. However, I would say that if we had to go with just a single park per day we could handle it with a bit of advance planning. The key, as you have heard above, is to plan your day so that you cover what you really want to see/do in the park of the day. Either that, or plan your evening meal/after dinner program to coincide with a resort meal (preferably signature), and an after diner experience such as just walking around BW.
