We have a Grand Gatherings trip planned for 5/30 to 6/5 at the Grand Floridian. 6 adults and 3 children (ages 5, 3, and 1). I'm trying to plan dining reservations for our group. But when I try to make reservations, I receive a message (online and by phone) that our party may be split into two tables. This is really undesirable for us. Since we're all traveling from different parts of the country, we want to eat together. (We're trying to make reservations at Citrico's, Narcosee, and California Grill)

Is there anyway to increase the possibility of being all seated at the same table? I thought that being part of a Grand Gathering would increase our chances, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

We're staying at a concierge level room. Could the concierge help?

Thanks for your input!

That is a standard reply but we had a party of eight in December and were never split up. They just want to make sure you are aware it could happen. Where all are you eating.

We've done party of 11 and a party of 17 on two separate vacations and were seated together at all but 2 places. WDW does their best to seat parties together. It's not always possible but they try their best. They are not going to guarantee it. The 3 restaurants you have mentioned should not be a problem.

The concierge will have nothing to do with this; the restaurants do this at the time you check in. Tables are not "reserved" for parties. Also, Grand Gatherings have nothing to do with it either. That entitles you to have linked room reservations and the perks of the exclusive Grand Gathering events you can book, not regular dining.

We were a party of 11 on the DxDP. We ate at PLENTY of sit down restaurants and were never separated once except at Crystal Palace. We were still at two round tables beside each other just not pushed together. We were told over the phone that we would be a separate tables at every meal. They really do their best for that not to happen.

Our last several trips have been at least 9 people...we were occasionally split up...I'm trying to think where--The Plaza at MK comes to mind and we had an awful experience at Tony's Town Square...otherwise we ate at places like Boma, Chef Mickey's, Garden Grille, Cape May Cafe...and were seated together.

But, we did get the standard speech each time about possibly being split up.

As for increasing your chances - book the first seating of the night - the restaurant will have an easier time moving tables around to accomodate your party if all of the tables are empty at the time

Thanks everyone for your reassuring replies. I'll feel much better making the reservations now.:thumbsup2

There's a chance you will, and there's a chance you won't. Biergarten has long tables, but they seat 8 people, not 9.

When we did 9 (7 adults, 2 children)for a Grand Gathering they put a chair at the end of the table in Biergarten for us to all sit together.

The only places we were split were Sci-Fi, GG and the Plaza. CRT, CP, Cape May, 1900 Park Fare, '50's Prime Time, Biergarten and Tusker House all accommodated our group. It just depends on what tables are available when you arrive. :)

we were a grand gathering party of 11 and at CP were seated at 3 tables right next to each other. At trails end we were put at 2 tables next to each other, the other times we were together.

Hi
When you call to book your dining ressies....try telling them you have a grand gathering.....(I think anything greater than 8 is considered a grand gathering...not sure), Anyway it's worth a try and maybe they will seat you together. When I book for 6 or more at some restraunts (i.e. Le Cellier) they will often tell me that they can give us seats ...but we may not all be at the same table. However we have never been split up in over 5 times going. Hope this helps.:)

We've done parties of 8, 9, 10 & 11 at Le Cellier, Tepan Edo, The Morrocan Restaurant (?), Olivia's (OKW) and of course Boma! They just keep pushing tables together. Love those large family reunions!

From personal experience, the magic number seems to be 12. If your party is 12 or under you are pretty safe on being able to sit at the same table. If you party is 13+ it is HIGHLY unlikely. With our last trip, the only place we all sat at the same table was at Ohana for breakfast. (This is of course excluding the grand gathering events.)

We were a party of 10 and were never split up. We made sure to schedule times that were not during peak dining.

It really just depends on the restaurant (size.) We've done parties of 8 and 9.

Plaza- we've always been split up (although it was 2 tables right next to eachother)- I don't know if they even have a big enough table to sit 9.

CP- We've always eaten together

Sci-fi- Eaten together

CRT- together

Chef Mickeys-always together

Coral Reef- always together

Garden Grill-together
