Can a computer person explain something to me,please

In my search for something online,a porn site came up on my screen!!! Then,I could not get rid of it! A whole bunch(12) sites just kept coming on to my screen!!! I had to shut my computer to get rid of this stuff. WHY?????

Popups. Many sites, porn included, will pay for popping up in your face when you go to a site. A method of advertising. Get a good popup blocker. Google has a free one, tied to a free toolbar (pretty good). I use Panicware's blocker, the one you pay for, it is GREAT.

I am posting the cure for come problem. The you have been hijacked.

The cure get AD-Ware , Spybot, and Spyblaster.

Then go to the Rewards board on this site and read a thread removes bugs and spys that should take care of the problem. That thread has all the answers you will need to get your computer problem.


Don't feel bad computer people have trouble figure out some computer problems them selfs.

Yeah, gets really annoying when they're popping up in your face.

AOL as well as other providers have their own - AOL's works very well.

I recently installed Yahoo's toolbar companion which includes a pop up blocker. I love it!!

The latest versions of Netscape and Mozilla have a setting that disallows websites from opening new windows. Guess what popups are?

All you have to do is change your preferences so webpages aren't allowed to "open unrequested windows", and no more popups. In the latest version of Mozilla, this is under Advanced -- Scripts and Plugins. I think it used to be in Privacy and Security. YMMV.

I use the free one from Panic ware and it is excellent. For some reason I get a smile on my face when I hear the sound of it stopping some stupid pop up. Small things amuse small minds.
