I'm purposely booking our Wish cruise right before my son turns 15. If you sail with a 14 year old can they go into either Edge or Vibe? Or do the have to select and register for one instead of the other before they board?

Any advice would be great, thanks!!

Yes, my oldest son was able to do this on a cruise at age 14. Children ages 11, 12 and 14 are the lucky ones that can bounce between their favorite activities under the youth activities heading. We’ve been able to do this at several ages - the kiddos would stalk to Navigators to see what to do when and where.

Per DCL’s website
Oceaneer Club is for ages 3-12
Edge is for ages 11-14
Vibe is for 14-17

Yes, my daughter and a friend she met onboard were both 14 and they maximized their club experience by bouncing back and forth.

My youngest is super bummed our next cruise now got pushed out until he will be 15. He was all excited at being able to bounce between the two like his older brother could when we sailed when he was 14. He’s especially bummed because we’re sailing with my SIL and so his younger cousins will be there, but only have access to Edge, so they cannot now play together. The cousins at least will be in the sweet spot of bouncing between Oceaneer and Edge, but alas won’t be able to enjoy any of those spaces with my kids :-(

I’m sorry to hear that. We have two cruises booked for 2022 due to COVID delays - my second child has a June birthday so he barely gets to bounce for our spring cruise but not our summer one. Having done this for the Club/Edge he really enjoys this aspect.

Same for our family! My son is 14 and we had a summer 2021 cruise booked, but now the cruise will be summer 2022, so he'll be 15 and only able to do the Vibe. Our middle child, though, will be 12, so she'll be at the sweet spot to bounce between Edge and the Oceaneer's club.

Our friend’s son was 12 on the last cruise we took together and even though could go to both, mainly went to Edge, said there were too many screaming 4 year olds in the OC. Lol. Our son was 9 then and so they often split up. Most 12 year olds we were told were the same but it’s nice they have the option.

This happened to us (our son). Posters are right in that he was able to try both. But for him at least, he found a nice group at Vibe and that became his DCL "home" for that and several more cruises. FWIW, he's always been one of the youngest in his school classes and peer group, so being with 15-year olds was quite comfortable.

"Hanging out" with other teens on a Disney ship to 2am (or later) was his way of enjoying "his" cruise". In Denmark and Juneau, they even had special Shore Excursions that we signed him up for. Great stuff.
