Can a 12 year old order from the children's menu?

With the Disney Dining Plan, can a picky 12 year old order from the children's menu even though we've paid the full price?

I was about to post this same question! My niece (teenager) is a picky eater also and eats only chicken nuggets, etc...and we need to know too! Thanks.

My Daughter did 3 or 4 times one year. It hurt my credit card's feelings, knowing how much I paid for the dining plan.

DS had no problems ordering from the children's menu and using an adult credit. He is also a picky eater. Though he only ordered from the kids menu a few times. He could usually find something on the adult menu that he was willing to eat. They can order without the sauces and such. That is what he did.

This is one of the things that I really don't like about the DDP. I understand that they chose 10 for paying Adult Prices for tickets, but we should have the option of paying for either the adult or child meal plan. It is awful to pay for a adult meal plan for a child who is only going to eat off the child menu. I will not pay for DDP once DD gets to that age. She is a pretty picky eater although that is getting slightly better, but she is also a very light eater. She has never eaten much at any sitting. She eats a little bit at each meal of the day and then snacks a little bit in between. I just make sure what she is getting into her is healthy. Having to pay Adult DDP prices just seems like a wast of money.

My DisneyAdult DS has also ordered off the child's menu at several TS restaurants. He is a big eater (despite being a beanpole), but picky. When our server came, I explained that while DS was hungry there wasn't anything on the adult menu that appealed to him. Then I would ask if it was possible to for him to order from the children's menu but get larger portions. In thirteen out of sixteen cases, that's exactly what he got. When it didn't happen, I didn't get upset or complain - it was the children's menu, but it usually worked for us.
