Just want to ask those who have stayed at POR--How much comfort will we actually have if we stayed here? We are a family of 5 with 2 teenage boys, ages 16 & 13, and a 9 year old boy. Our teens are pretty much the size of us parents, so what do you think? Is there any room at all for a couple of air mattresses? Thank you so much for the help!:)

I think you guys would probably fit fine into the rooms. we have a family of four and can pull it off. The rooms are a nice size and if your planing on using air matts when the kids arn't sleeping you can slide them under the bed.

We are a family of 5 and last year we had 3 adults (all pooh sized!) and two teenage girls both 17 and we fit fine. I would say you would be fine IF the 9 year old slept on the trundle. My girls are short so we had no problems. We don't spend lots of time in our room so that helps too. Just our experience over the last 5 years, but we've not had a problem!

It truly is personal preference and it will be hard to predict your level of togetherness tolerance. My family would be insane before the night was out.

If we have to sleep in less beds than home, we would rather be at home.

There is probably room for one air mattress if you do use the trundle. But if you are planning on using the trundle then no.

But then we don't like not having queen size beds.

My parents and I shared a room at POFQ a few years ago. It was a tight squeeze for us. Had it been for more than just the three nights I think we would have driven eachother insane.

With our toddler and teenager at 6'1" we could not imagine squeezing into one room. Sharing a bathroom with our teen, not a good idea.

We were very happy with two rooms. We asked for connecting, received adjoing. There was no issue. We had a spare key to his room. Two bathrooms sped up times in the a.m. to get going!

It's about comfort level and personal preference I think. The two t.v.'s for downtime and extra bathroom was priceless for us.

Our family of 5 stayed in a room at POR with a trundle. The kids were ages 15, 13, and 11. My kids actually fought over the trundle bed! You could fit a twin air mattress in the space where the trundle bed sits. Or you could bring a sleeping bag to use on top of the trundle bed for a little extra padding.

We survived just find, in fact we're doing it again next month!

It's possible, but it's tight.

We stayed eight nights in 2005 with two adults, a 2 year old, a 6 year old, and an 8 year old. The two year old (who was nearly three and long since out of a crib) fell off the bed and hit his lil head on the night stand, the 8 year old and I tossed and turned (and fought for covers) all night due to lack of room on a double bed, my hubby barely slept due to fear of knocking the lil guy off the bed again, and the 6 year old happily slept on the trundle.

Shower and changing time stunk. It's hard to get five people, who are of different sexes and all modest, changed and clean in such a small space. We only have one bathroom at home, but we have our own rooms to change in. Privacy is a problem.

We love POR but will not stay there again unless we could afford two rooms, which we cannot. Next year when we return, the kids will be three years older and three years bigger. We need more space. It's either SOG with their huge rooms, queen beds, and sleeper sofa, or two rooms at POP. The details for the 2008 dining plan will be our deciding factor.

It's very personal. It works for many families, but we didn't like being so crammed. It's too bad. We love absolutely everything else about the resort.

We've had 5 at POR and it was fine. Our group of 3 adult size females, 1 adult man & 1 small child were able to work out sharing one bathroom and double beds without too much trouble! The privacy curtain across the sink area helps, in that one person can be showering and another can be getting ready at the sink area with the bathroom door closed and the privacy curtain shut. We had some people shower in the evening and some in the morning. I think there is room for a couple of air mattresses, but it would be really tight, and you'd need to put them away when not sleeping. I would choose POR if I really wanted a pool slide and hot tub, otherwise 2 value rooms or family suite. :)

We just spent 9 days in one room at POR. My children are 15, 7, and 4. I think you would do just fine unless you like to spend a considerable amount of time in your room just hanging out. (I've found that only the villas are really good for this.) As far as the trundle bed goes, your 9 yo could easily sleep on it. Dh tried out ours just out of curiosity. (Our 4 and 7 yo's could sleep anywhere!!) He said it was surprisingly comfortable. There isn't a lot of drawer space -- just 4 drawers, so plan on hanging things.

Having done that in 2004 we decided to get 2 rooms for our trip in December. It was tight last time and the kids are much bigger now. We wouldn't be happy in a room that small for the 5 of us but it is very much personal preference.

I think it all would depend on comfort level.

It worked for our family last year. It was the only moderate that accommodates our family size. (Dh & I, 4 kids ages 5, 3, 1, & infant)

Dh & I slept in one bed, my 3 & 5 year old shared the second bed, almost two year old slept on the trundle and infant slept in playpen.

We are doing it again this year.

The only thing in your situation is that the kids are older so I guess it would depend on how comfortable two of them will be sharing a bed.

It was a tight squeeze for the crib at the bottom of the beds but it was totally do able, especially considering how long we were in the room. I'd say you could try and squeeze an air mattress there but I think it may only work if it were a single.

Best of luck!

We've stayed there in 05 and 06 and going back in Sept 07. Five will fit fine. We have 3 boys, 14,9,and 6. Carry an air mattress for the trundle bed.:cool1:
