Aulani Grand Villa..122 points a night.

If at 7 months less 7 days since none of us own at Aulani, can we get a 3 way call to Member Services and book a 7 night stay? We would book 5 nights with our points, each friend 1 night, and then MS link the nights together to get a continuous stay?

We are trying to budget expenses for a trip that is a year away. We have other guests who are not DVC members, so some will be responsible for cash, some points.

I would have someone transfer points into someone's else account then you only require two people to be on the phones with MS. I have done something like this with using multiple people's points.

Ok...can be done. The gal who lives further away can transfer, none of us has ever transferred before, and my cousin and I could even be in the same room. Thanks for the suggestion.
Should we be concerned about UY in the transfer? I am not sure what others have.

All points will have to be within the 7 month window of when you travel.

Assuming the trip is in your 2018 use year, you’d need one person to transfer 2017 points and then bank them, and the other to transfer 2018 points. That’s the only way to get three peoples points together for one reservation. And that’s assuming the trip is in everyone’s 2018 use year. If you’re dealing with multiple use years it could get really complicated.

An alternative is for each member to book a few nights, but you lose the +7 advantage at that point.

This year, an OV Grand Villa was available at 4 months. We would book at 7 months, because we are all already booked on an Hawaiian cruise, so we all have financial stake in the stay. So, I do not think that losing a 7 month booking advantage by a week, would be harmful.

What are the use years involved? I think that makes a difference in whether transfer is viable.

I'm not sure this can be done if I understand what you're asking. What it sounds like you're trying to do is book 7 nights as one step using 3 different separate accounts at 7 months out day 1 by calling. I don't believe you'll be able to do this because each reservation will have to be at 7 months from that checkin day. Otherwise there's no advantage to doing it on the phone in this situation if reserving 3 separate reservations of 5, 1 & 1 night. Just make sure you book the same view and have them linked. You will not be able to do 7 nights at 7 months out just by all 3 calling in together this situation. Basically you can't bypass the 7 month out restriction for each of this 2 nights just because you call together.

I would work through the transfer options. Depending on the points accountings and UY, you might be able to get all points into your account then book the 5 nights online at 8 am 7 months out then call at 9 and add the other 2 nights. But all points will have to be in one account to do it this way. Because transferred points are bankable, it might be that you could have points transferred to one UY from one person then bank them and have the other party transfer to the next UY. Assuming this is in your 2018 UY, you could accept 2017 UY points transferred and bank them then accept 2018 UY points into your 2018 UY. You just need to make sure what the UY are for the other 2 parties and look at your UY to see which one you'd be using for the actual reservation. And this assumes that neither of the other 2 are having to combine points from more than one UY for their portion. You'll likely still have to call because unless it's the same home resort and UY as your own, I don't think the transferred points will show up online.

The other alternative is to call MS and see if they'll make an exception to the transfer policy though in this situation I doubt they will and they really shouldn't. Worst case scenario book the 5 nights day 1 then book or if needed, wait list the other 2 nights separately when they can be reserved at 7 months out from each of those days. Of course this assumes the other parties don't have other waitlists that would interfere.

You mentioned cash as well. I'm presuming the cash is for non room components or a completely separate room.

The cash is for expenses while we are at Aulani. Everyone of us is contributing something to the stay, either points for the room, or money for food and car rental.

Originally, two of us were contributing points, and she has a February UY, I have March. She was going to transfer to me enough points for two nights from her 2018 UY. Our friend MAY contribute points,( one nights worth) or she will be contributing to the cash pool. At this point, she has not decided.

Thank you.

I would want my ducks in a row prior to the trip having to be booked, esp if trying to do the third person with points. At least you can reserve what you can with your contract online then call and add the extra days using the transferred points.
