Hi All
Still waiting for Disney to decide if we can buy resale SSR points :rolleyes1. Hopefully, we will know this week, it went to Disney Oct 6th... (anyone have any extra pixie dust to share?)

Once this is all settled... one of our adult sons may want to buy their own family contract. If they do, can we combine points from our contract & theirs (same last name) to share a Grand Villa sometime in the future?

Thanks in advance - you guys ROCK :hippie:

You will need the same resort to get a GV because you need the 11 month head start to get it.

You could reserve some of the nights and your family reserve the rest of the nights and then you link the two reservations. Or one family transfer all the points needed from their contract to the other family and make one reservation with all the points. You would have to transfer in this case.

It doesn't matter whose name is on the contract and that they are the same. It would be two separate contracts and that would require a transfer for one family to make all the reservations.

You are allowed one transfer in or one transfer out per use year. So if the combination of points still isn't enough, the family who got transferred to would have to borrow from the next UY or use banked points to fill it out. You couldn't transfer points from a third member to get you more. And you can't borrow transferred points, nor can you transfer banked or borrowed points.

We have done this often with our (grown) daughter who has her own points. We just make it a three-way call with MS and decide ahead of time some relatively equal split of days so that the points used are approximately equal. MS then books say 4 weekdays using our points on one reservation and 2 weekend days on her points on the other reservation, then links the two reservations together so that we don't have to check-out/in.

Thanks guys
I think the 3-way call with Member Services woud be easiest! - That sounds like a plan for us.
I appreciate your help with this :flower3:

We have friends who own the same resort we do. When we want to travel with them and book a GV, We call in and make half the reservation with my points and half of it with hers and then have the reservations linked. It works every time and is a painless way to do it.

If someone is renting points from two different members for an extended stay do the members have to link the reservation or can the renter do it at check-in?

No, each member has to do it. They call MS and tell them to link it to the other one so you would have to provide them with the other reservation #.
