Can 2 adults see harry potter in 1 day in july?

Going to Disney with my dad July 12-19. He just told me he wants to go to universal on Wednesday the 16th to see both of the Harry potter areas. Neither of us have been to universal in years and we have not seen any of the Harry potter attractions. With tickets, express pass, and transportation it would be about $250 for 1 day. That is a lot to give up and not see what you want to see. I could care less about anything but the 2 Harry potter areas and those rides. Can it be done in 1 day? Or with the timing will it be a madhouse with 5 hour waits for all the rides? Advice?

It can definitely be done in one day, but it will be a madhouse since the new Diagon Alley section will only have been open for a few weeks when you get there.

Well, you can't use Express Pass on Forbidden Journey or Ollivander's Wand Shop at WWoHP-Hoggsmeade.

I can't remember if you can use Express Pass on Dragon Challenge or Flight of the Hippogriff. I would try to look it up for you, but when I take too long, the Disboards website logs me out.

I'm guessing that you won't be able to use Express Pass on the Gringott's ride or Hoggwarts Express at WWoHP-Diagon Alley.

If you are staying at a Universal Orlando hotel, you can get into Hoggsmeade earlier in the morning than everyone else. Not sure what they are saying about Diagon Alley. I believe the new Cabana Bay hotel is included, but I'm not positive.

I think I saw on Twitter that they moved some machines in place which will tell you a return time that you can enter Diagon Alley. In other words, you wouldn't be able to just march into the park and enter Diagon Alley.

This is one of the reasons I am on the fence about going. It would stink not to get in at all or not in time to see some things before the park closes!

You will spend most of your day in LINES..Forbidden journey and Ollivanders are not express pass eligible.Without early entry, you will be entering with the masses.Wait times in July 60-120 mins.The other 2 rides, flight of the hippogrif and dragon challenge do take express.In the new section, it is going to be beyond jammed.Chances are possible since it will be brand new that the return ticket system will be in use.Meaning , you will be given a time to come back to the area.That will NOT include anytime in line for Gringotts or the hogwarts exprss, neither which will take express pass.If not using the return time ticket system, you are still going to meet long lines.Gringotts queue is large enough to hold people for 300 min waits..I wouldnt doubt that iit will be close to that in its firstfew weeks of being open.personally It is an expensive endeavor and risky with the expansion being so new

Could you - possibly. Would I - no way in holly hock sticks.... July is HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT and when we went last fall on a cool day during the week we were still exhausted from just the IOA side and HP was our focus. You are getting great advise - stay offsite and get there when it opens to offsite guests on two different days is your best bet.

if you want to see all of parry hotter, listen to damo.
and Winnie Pooh Pooh.

you will be able to do parry hotter with less crowds during early entry.
your line waits for rides / shows that have express will be 20 minutes or less for waits.

you can take a break from the heat at the onsite hotel.
take a dip at the hotel pool.


you are going in mid July.
it will be hot.
it will be crowded.
lines will be long for the rides/shows.
lines will be long for eateries and restrooms.

you said you only wanted to do the parry hotter stuff.
you might find other things to do once you are in the parks.

if what is rumored becomes true, and they give out designated times to return for the HE ride, you might as well take in a few shows or rides for the in between time period.

if this is the only trip you plan to make in the near future, have it be a good one with decent memories.
if you do a one day, two park at the darkside and not stay onsite, you might not come out of it thinking you want to do a repeat in the future.

If Harry Potter is near and dear to you and your father, I would not want this to be my precious memory of the Wizarding World. Have you seen the aerial photos of the opening of phase 1? Previous posters are giving great advice. Because I'm a little sentimental about memories and really into Harry Potter, I'll give you my advice...wait.

Wait until you have the proper time and timing to make this a memorable experience for both of you. Wait to give the newness a chance to die down and the crowds with it. Wait to stay on site for a night and do two early entries. Wait and take the time to fully immerse yourself in the Potterverse. If you continue to research the Wizarding World, you will find all the food and entertainment offered. It is an immersive experience. I don't think I'll see it all with four days in October.

That said...this is just what I would do if my goal was a positive memory with my dad in the world of Potter.

If you want to go during your July trip I would try and stay at any of the onsite hotels for one night. If your only doing HP stuff you really don't need express passes since they will one work on two of the 6 rides/attractions that involve standing in line. But by staying onsite say the night before you do the parks, even the new Value/Mod hotel Cabana Bay you get early entry. That's the most important part to lessen your wait times in the morning.

I would do it only if you are ok spending the extra money to stay on site to get early access and express pass (it won't work on all the rides, but it does work on two rides in Hogsmede).

I'm going later in the year and plan to do Diagon Alley at rope drop for early hours and then doing Hogsmede.

Although it will be crowded, the Harry Potter section will be amazing! I've been to the Hogsmede section twice and the detail is breathtaking!
