Can 1 person Rent 2 Cars for same date

I am going with a family of 10 and wanted to rent a large Van but seems to be more difficult than I thought it would be so I have decided to rent 2 cars...
Will I be able to rent 2 cars in my name and pay for them both Or will another Family Memeber need to rent one and pay for it separate???
Just trying to get everything plan as easily and and painless as possible.

What I would do is make the two reservations in two seperate names so as not to confuse the rental agency or make them think you hold double bookings. Then when you go to rent the car at the counter, tell them you are picking up two cars and they will need to see the two seperate drivers licences for the two people you plan on driving. You can charge both rentals on one card if that is what you need to do. The agencies will allow one person to pay but have a seperate driver of record if I remember correctly. I have travelled with my Dad before where he wanted to pay for the car, but wanted me to drive and it was never an issue, of course we do have the same last name too. When in doubt it wouldn't hurt to call the rental agency and ask them directly too.
