Can’t decide when to go

I’m in the middle starting to plan our first trip back since my oldest’s MAW trip in 2012. We have 3 kids (12, 9 and 18 Months) We are trying to decide when to go. Our options are May 2019 the month before our middle turns 10 (the oldest will be 13 and the baby will be 28 months) or the week after Christmas thru New Years 2019/2020 which is the month before the baby turns 3 (older kids would be almost 14 and 10).

Pros of December trip, youngest is older and presumably a little easier to travel with plus still “free”. The weather will be better. We’ve been in February and March and felt that was ideal.

Pros of May trip, middle will still be 9 so not a Disney adult. It’s sooner :) We won’t know the school calendar until spring 2019 so we won’t know for sure when school is back in session for January 2020 making it harder to plan December/January travel dates.

Extra info: I think we will plan 5-6 days at Disney Parks and 3-4 days at Universal Parks. My oldest is a huge HP fan and isn’t interested in Disney much. My middle has just started liking thrill rides and sadly isn’t into princesses anymore. The toddler? Who knows what he will be into by then but hopefully he’s a big Mouse fan. LOL!

I’d do May.. for me, weather n crowd levels.
Whenever u go.. enjoy!!

May, here's why imo:

Cheaper most likely. I'm willing to bet we'll see some interesting package deals next year due to...

December will be packed with Star Wars stuff. With a small one that may be overwhelming.

You'll get some swimming in.

I'd vote May. If only to avoid the Wookiee Christmas monster....

I agree about going in May, while the weather is cooler in December the crowds between Christmas and New Years will be insane not to mention room prices and food prices are the most expensive during this time.

If you have the option or you're choosing to go in May with your kids, I'd pick that for certain.

I would vote May- longer hours, easy to swim, summer stuff is kicking off, flower and garden potential, predictable weather.

Another vote for May! I went at Xmas and loved it but I would not try those crowds + Star Wars opening crowds with 3 kids. Also, you’ll save so much money with middle one and it not being most expensive week of the year. We had FD for our Xmas trip but doubt that will be offered Dec 2019 unless SW is delayed.

May. I would pick ANY week of the year over the week between Christmas and New Year's. Especially 2019 as Star Wars will have just opened. The massive crowds will only be bigger.

I’d do may but if this will be your last trip for awhile than the appeal of Star Wars might make me go at Christmas. Plus you have older kids who might really enjoy it. Just set your expectations for a super crowded week.

Another vote for May here as well... I don't think I'd want to do that week between Christmas and NY and with Star Wars opening... well, I think May sounds lovely :)
