Just popping in real quick to report on the 5K. Did 49:47, which gets me my below-50:00 objective. 15:51 pace on the official time/distance.

Thrilled but trying not to think of how much harder I should have worked. Something to shoot for next time. Interestingly, my Garmin said it was 3.2, which would have given me a 15:33 pace. Solidly below the 16:00 required pace, but how the heck am I going to do that for another 10 miles? :) It will come with training, I am sure.

Don -- There were a lot of people walking this 5K at a nice, leisurely pace. I think everyone should try it sometime. It is really satisfying to finish one.

Did well on cheat-free yesterday, eating popcorn at the movies but only a low fat hot dog on a lite english muffin for dinner when we got home. Saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Interestingly, it didn't create any candy cravings.

Ate a soft pretzel and a nectarine this morning after the race. Saving points for dinner and dessert with friends. Bought cut up fruit and everyone else can do ice cream sandwiches and caramel apple crisp with ice cream. Fortunately, that holds no appeal for me. :)

Hi Cam!!!!

HUGE CONGRATS ON BEATING THE TIME YOU SET FOR YOURSELF!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
So proud!! You are right, the next ten miles will come with your training, which you are doing so good at!!! I hope that you have a most excellent time at dinner with your friends tonight and that you go to bed proud of yourself!!!

Hi, Cam! Great job on beating the time you set for yourself! And great job not cheating at the movies or anywhere else! You are doing awesome!

The weekend ended up going pretty well. Stayed within my daily and activity points, no problem. Peeked at the scale today and let's just say that number BETTER hold for tomorrow. I am looking forward to reporting and recording. :teeth:

Did a day trip yesterday to our DS12's camp that he leaves for in 2 weeks. It is 3.5 hours away and I am still amazed that I am actually going to let him go. Of course, I may go  while he is away. DDalmost17 leaves Wednesday for 6 days at Georgetown for a Leadership College, an award she won. I'll be even more of a wreck while she is gone. :sad2:

I was proud that I packed breakfast for yesterday so that a stop at McDonalds yielded only coffee for me (good thing someone bought the scones at Lavazzo Coffee before I got to the counter, because they are a definite weakness!). Also packed lunch for the entire family and took a cooler so that we didn't spend money or eat out again. That seemed to have worked out well.

Spent 2+ hours shopping with DD last night and had dinner about 9:15. Fortunately, DH grilled chicken and ribs and pork shishkebobs. I cooked a huge pan of mushrooms and onions w/A1 sauce and that was a great filler. Also opened 2 cans of spinach and cooked that with lemon & chopped garlic. A very filling dinner within my points. No dessert :mickeybar since it was so late and I wasn't hungry.

The tour yesterday was about 2 hours of walking the camp's property, climbing hills, etc. and it was fun, so at least I got in some physical activity, even if nothing formal.

Rain prevented my walk this morning, but am planning on the gym tonight for treadmill, recumbent bike and elliptical cross-trainer. Have to figure out how to build up my breathing capacity, since I seem to get out of breath more quickly than I should.

Game plan for today:
B: flour tortilla w/low fat ham (3); light yogurt (2)
L: pork shishkabob w/mushrooms & onions (4); spinach (0)
S: apple (1); lite cheese wedge (1); plum (1)
D: ????

Dinner will be after the gym, so another late one, but am hoping to come up with a good idea for it.

Good job yesterday Cam - it's so much easier when you get up and have a plan (or make that plan the night before). That's what works for me anyway. And hope the scale holds for you - I'm excited to hear your excitement!!!!

I know what you mean about the kids being gone. DD is on her second week and I'm doing great with it. Got a postcard and that helped. Now if I can make it through the next couple of days with dd and dh both being gone then Saturday will be here in no time!!!!

Keep up the great work! Will check in tomorrow to see what your scale says.

Keep on
Chris

Congrats on doing so well in the 5k and beating your goal!!! It is a great feeling! :sunny:

Hi Cam,

Great on keeping your food planned and yourself on plan, especially on a road trip! I know it won't be easy to see your DS go to camp but just think of all the experiences he will have there! (Which I know you know, but knowing something and feeling another way about it happens to us all!! hehe)

Mmmm mushrooms and onions... now you got me drooling! I better go make dinner! I hope that you have a great night!!

Mike :sunny:

Went to the gym last night. Did the warm up 1/2 mile in about 8 minutes, then did 1 mile in about 15:30. Also did 30 minutes on the bike, covering 6 miles (pretty moderate speed). It was enjoyable to ride the bike with my ipod on and reading the latest issue of Oprah's magazine.

Did 3.8 miles this morning in about an hour. Wow! It was getting really hot by 7 a.m. Kept DS home from camp today, since friends are joining Howard for lunch. Heat index is going to be 110+ and I just figured he'd enjoy sleeping in and staying in the air conditioning. DD has a mini band camp 12-4-- hopefully, she'll drink lots of water and they won't do anything too strenuous.

The great news is I am down 2 lbs this week bringing my overall total to 47 and my WISH total to 28.5. Finally have broken away from that 2.5 pound range that I'd been in since the end of May. Brings my total in July to 4. Still hope to take off another 5-6 before my trip on 8/19 (OMG, is it really only 24 days away?). OKAY, I recognize that is pretty ambitious considering how slowly my body is giving up pounds. I guess it is unrealistic to think my body will do 2 pounds a week for the next three weeks, but maybe now that it has "remembered" how to lose, maybe it will give up pounds at a rate more commensurate with my efforts!

Still cheat-free, after 15 days. 85 to go.

Food for today:
B: flour tortilla (2) w/ham (1); small plum & peach (1.5)
L: tomatoes (0); cauliflower poppers (0); leftover pork shiskabob (2); 2/3 c. couscous (2)
Snacks: lite yogurt (2), apple(1), lite cheese wedge (1)
D: still up in the air

DD leaves for her 6 day Leaders' College at Georgetown tomorrow, so no work for me tomorrow, or maybe just a couple of hours!

More later.

Hi Cam great job on the 5k. I was thinking about you on Sat but then the computer got some kind on adware virus and wouldn't let us on the internet. All cleared up now that we got the spyware and our updated virus scan. All is well now. I hope you are doing well great job on the weight loss last week. smles kardiebelle

Way to go on the loss there Cam!!!!!! Good job!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Hi Cam!

Congrats on your exercise goodness!! Thanks so much for the cauliflower popper recipe, I will definitely be trying it soon! Sounds yummy.
Congrats on the two pounds and being cheat free too!!! You are doing some excellent work there! Keep it up!

Have a happy & healthy night!

YAY CAM!!! 2 more lbs GONE FOREVER! :teeth:

I'm SOOOO PROUD of you! :) I am!

You SWIM girl! :) You're doing it!!!

hugs!!! have a great day

Jen :fish: ;) :sunny:

Great job losing 2 lbs, Cam, and staying cheat-free for 15 days! Wow!

I knew you could do it. 2 more pounds. Great. I am so happy for you and excited. You are working so hard and achieving your goal. Remember to keep walking and decreasing that time. Everything will be paying off for you and your life. Great Job! Smiles and Hugs Kardiebelle

Thanks, everyone! Well, the scale was still in the same place this morning, so I am glad of that. Sometimes it is really frustrating to get a decent weigh in and the very next day or two the number is increasing. I have resigned myself to there being so many variables that I try not to take it to heart at all.

Yesterday was an interesting food day, where I was able to stay on plan and cheat free, notwithstanding that I splurged:

B: small bagel with egg & ham (9)
L: bag of baked Lay's chips (4)
D: sushi (3); steamed shrimp & crab legs (4); wonton soup (4); egg roll (4); mushrooms from chicken & mushroom entree (1); broccoli from chicken & broccoli entree (1); peppers & onions from pepper steak entree (1); tastes of chicken & beef (2)
Dessert: ww ice cream (2)

So, I used flex points for a good purpose with no guilt. Yummy stuff.

Back to ordinary food today, though breakfast was a bit bizarre.
B: 97% ff beef hot dogs on lite buns (5) -- weird, but delicious!
L: steamed asparagus (0); chicken breast (4)

Didn't get any exercise in yesterday and was too tired to walk this morning, but will get back to my routine tomorrow.

DD called last night after their opening ceremonies and she is having a great time and adores her roommate, so I am really grateful. Knowing she is comfortable and already has met a bunch of other kids to hang out with will make my life so much easier over the next several days.

Thrilled to look forward to a date night with Howard tomorrow night because DS12 has a camp overnight. Hoping DS will be up for the overnighter. He is at the doctor's this morning for what looks to be ANOTHER very severe ear infection, complete with blood running out of his ear. Geez, it is so awful, and he doesn't complain at all. The worst of it is that he leaves for sleepaway camp in 10 days, so I want to know he is okay before he goes. And he is a singer, so this hearing impairment is critical to his performance ability. Hoping they'll give him a very strong dose of antibiotics and he will avoid any underwater swimming for the next week and a half.

If he is okay and goes to the overnight, we'll see "Must Love Dogs" and probably get pizza at the farmer's market for dinner before the show. Absolutely delicious thin crust pizza piled high with veggies (must eat it with a fork & knife). Will plan on a very low point breakfast and a salad for lunch so that I can do the pizza (9) & a freshly-made caramel apple with nuts for dessert (9) without having to access any more flex points.

Well, back to work!

Hi Cam!

Great job with your cheat free food choices & using those flex points when you know you are getting some worthwhile yummy goodness. Your planning for the caramel apple treat sounds good to me too!
I am glad to hear that your DD is doing well at her away trip. That must make you feel so much better! Now if we can see your DS off without a glitch you'll have a clean sweep! (Hope he feels better soon!)

Enjoy "Must Love Dogs" and the veggie pizza, sounds like a great night!!!
Have a good one tonight too!
Mike :goodvibes

Yesterday went better than expected, considering how hungry I was all day. Was out shopping with DS last night with many opportunities for ice cream, hot dogs, and McD's. Fortunately, I had some fat free mini pretzel sticks in my car and those held me over. If DS had chosen taco bell for dinner rather than McD's, I probably would have caved. Fortunately, I was able to wait until I got home to eat something.

Found something really delicious at Costco -- roasted pepper & jalapeno flavored hummus. Also found these rectangular shaped flat wraps that are 110-1.5-6 (2 points) on WW. Very high fiber makes them a sort of chewy, bland consistency, which I love and which was the perfect compliment for the huge flavor of the hummus. So, I spread 2 Tbsp hummus (2 pts due to high fat grams) on the wrap and had an incredibly filling wrap. Then, even though I wasn't really hungry, I had to have another wrap stuffed with a little grilled chicken (another very satisfying 4 points). After that, I didn't want or need anything else to eat. The two sugar free chocolates (2 pts) I had before dinner were a total splurge but still well within my points without accessing flex.

Brought a wrap and a little hummus to work for lunch. Sticking with water and coffee until lunch (still full from last night, though I have fruit or yogurt if I get hungry). Really looking forward to pizza and caramel apple with peanuts for dinner and dessert.

Mike -- Thanks for asking -- Andrew is doing better and the bleeding has already diminished from his ear. The perforation is small and the doctor is confident it will fully heal. Poor kid also has poison ivy that has spread over parts of his face and his eyes were all swollen too, so he is on steroids as well as the antibiotic. Hopefully, this is it for the summer. We'll get him healthy before he goes off to camp! :teeth:

Well, that's it for now. back to work. Oh, yeah, one last thing -- the scale was down .5 pound this morning, though it doesn't count since my WI day is next Tuesday, but I was glad to see that having missed exercising 2 days didn't cause the scale to leap high! I HAVE to get out tomorrow morning for a long walk. :rolleyes1

Way to go yesterday!! I am such a sucker for fast food!! Hope you have a great day today!
