We leave in 15 days for our first time tent camping at the Fort! :yay: Could someone talk to me about the water that is available at the campsite? Would you drink it? Cook with it? Wash dishes with it? Do I need to bring a hose of any sort?

In general, I am assuming that it is standard Orlando water (kinda icky) so I will probably bring our drinking water. I just need to know if I need to bring enough for cooking.

On a related note, are there specific places to dump your dishwater?

Thanks!

The water is drinkable . If you bring a hose make sure its one for potable water . Blue or white for that very purpose . If your driving though Id just go to walmart and grab a few gallons of water for drinking or making coffee.
As for the dumping of dishwater ?
popcorn::

As for dumping dishwater, in a commode or in the sink in the laundry room is a good place.

I find WDW water yucky, a Brita water filter helps. I find even if you boil the water it is still yucky without filtering first.

There will be a short green hose at your site. Do not use it for drinking or dishes. You don't know where it's been. :scared:

Definitely bring water for your coffee it makes a huge difference. I think the fountain drinks even taste funny at WDW.

The water is yucky tasting even though we always route it through a filter on our hose (never hook their hose up). To me it is ok for everything except drinking, coffee, or cooking. We always bring large water containers from home for that - one reason could be we have a well and do not like the taste chlorine gives to everything. It's not that it's not SAFE to drink, just don't taste the best. :goodvibes

I think the best way to discribe the taste of Disney water is it's like taking a cup of swiming pool water and drinking it. Even in the shower it smell like a pool. As others have said for drinking, cooking and coffee bring your own.

I don't recall the water tasting funny, but we have a filter outside our MH that filters all incoming water.

X2, we do keep a small Brita pitcher on the counter for coffee, dogs, and our drinking water, but don't think the DW water is funny tasting or icky by any means. After all it's just normal Orlando water so 100's of thousands of locals drink and use it and haven't moved because of the water quality. Those that find their water funny tasting or icky, might be well served to check their RV FW system and sanitize it to improve the water quality in their RV.

So do we, but we are used to well water at home and none of the filters we have tried on the MH hose line makes our coffee tastes right. The PP is probably right that it's Orlando water and would be fine for most people used to city water. Our filters are great, but doesn't make it "well water". It's supposed to take the tastes out, but when you are sensitive to the slightest taste you can tell. :goodvibes It's no biggie to us to take our water in two water containers as we do very little cooking at Disney, mostly drinking and coffee - don't mess with my morning coffee :lmao: And LarryJ, my husband is a "stickler" for keeping "everything" spotless and germ free, sanitizes spring and fall, so know that's not our problem.

Thanks everyone! Adding a couple of gallons of water and a filter to the packing list...

I use a filter as well and it tastes fine to me.

Do you have your own well water at home, or a public water system? That's what I meant - nothing wrong for most people with the water, but we have used several different filters (expensive ones too), finally decided it's "us", so bring the water we love and are used to, but ALWAYS filter what does come into our MH. We are fortunate that our home water tastes like bottled water/with minerals added - not the "flat kinds". :goodvibes

I believe I read on another post that you must contain your waste water. We are draining into a large covered paint type bucket which is easily carried to the CS and dumped in toilet. We also use a filter on the pop-up, however I have never thought I needed the filter for washing. The smell is sulfer and we find it gagging. Brita filter would be handy for tent campers or a faucet type filter on the spigot.
