Campsite Decoration Ideas?

Hi,

We just returned from our 1st trip to the Fort in our new travel trailer. We go to WDW a lot, but this was our 1st time in an RV. I've stayed at the cabins once, and DH used to camp there a lot when he was little. I've never camped before so I have a lot to learn. I loved it (but I also love WDW :)). It also was the 1st time for our little ones. I saw a lot of decorated campsites and thought that looked like fun. I couldn't believe some of the decorations. Is there a thread/pics of decorating ideas (outside of Christmas; not looking for that yet - just regular trip stuff)? I saw the decorations for a Mickey light post and a thread about the Musket Mickey sign but didn't see one about decorating ideas. I didn't know if it was appropriate to take pics of others' campsites. Where do you buy the stuff? We don't want stuff that is too heavy b/c we also have to pack for 4 little ones (4 kids under 5).

Do people decorate campsites outside WDW? Is that common?

Thanks for any help.

You can find stuff at Campers World, Walmart, K-mart, Target, etc., I usually lean towards beachy looking stuff because we camp at the lake and love to go to the beach usually once a year! We always decorate with a table cloth(walmart), rug outside camper(campers world), candles (walmart), Tiki lights for the ground(Walmart or Home depot) rope lights on ground or around table awning. My husband won't put lights on the camper awning anymore because of taking them off when rolling it in. I don't know if thats what everyone does or theres something you can buy to make it easier than what we do! But I've really seen some pretty lights for the camper awning. Some will decorate with flags, hanging name plate, light post, hanging flower pot, use their favorite football team color, for instance we are Tn Vols. So some campers in Tn will have big orange Vols chairs, coolers etc outside their camper. Campers World did have Car racing decorations. I have seen some Disney stuff in the garden center this year at Walmart.

I decorate our campsite in the Mickey Mouse theme where ever we are camping.
Over the years I have managed to collect Mickey decorations for just about every holiday.
If its not a holiday, I just decorate in a general Mickey theme.
That's just me.

we use office binder clips to attach lights to the camper - goes pretty quickly!

I made a flag with Mickey Ears for each of the family members. Used a white pillow case, some ribbon and iron on fusing with a cute fabric. I string it up the awning leg or clip it to the bed end (we're in a pop-up). I also string lantern style lights from the awning. It uses two strings to go around. I have seen a lot of people simply using Christmas lights-colored or white. Some hang signs in front of their propane tanks and use small decorative flags with hangers. I've also seen people make Mickey ears with pine cones at the edge of the drive.

We camp quite often using our pop-up. We have not seen a lot of people take the time to decorate. Usually people are passing through quickly in the state campgrounds, but you could get some tips from the long term campers you find. These are usually volunteers who stay in their spots for several months.
