My DH and I are planning a 19 day road trip with our 11 month old baby boy. We have weekend camped with him when he was first born but would love tips on camping with a mover and a shaker. :cool1: We will spend about 6-7 hours in the car at a time and then camp for 4-5 days in our camper.

He'll do better than you think! A play pen is nice for when you want to relax in a chair. Have fun and enjoy him!

Our kids have been camping at Disney and other places since they were 8 months old. The 10 hr drive to the Fort was a bit longer than I would have liked, but it could have been worse. For our kids a dvd player is a must, so are games and books. A small cooler and some snacks in the car are handy too. We had a portable bottle warmer that got quite a workout.

In the camper we have plenty of toys. We used to have a porta crib, but not anymore. The main thing is to keep them entertained, fed, dry, and comfortable.

Good luck.

You'll do great! We've camped with our little kiddos since they were infants. No sweat! Relax and enjoy every moment! Take lots and lots of pics and post a fabulous trip report for us nosey folks to enjoy. :goodvibes (I have the mover and shaker of all time, believe me it's been confirmed by professionals!) Two adults + one 11 month old= FUN! Have a great trip!

Just try to have lots and lots of patience. At that age, they seem to get bored with traveling or sitting to long in the car so we often made several stops. It helps them and you'll all feel better in the long run.

we like to try to travel around sleeping times - if we leave right after lunch the truck ride will make our younger 2 sleep for up to 3 hours - they'd never sleep this long at home in their beds but I guess the motion helps. When we are going on longer trips we'll leave after dinner and they'll watch a movie or 2 then fall asleep - hubby and I will stay awake until we are tired and then stop at a rest stop for the night - don't try to push it to drive straight through to anywhere over night - you'll be exhausted the next day while the kid(s) are rearing to go - when we wake up we get back on the road and again DVDs or coloring help to pass the time, lots of snacks also help but remember if you drink a lot that will mean a lot of bathroom breaks.
