Does anyone have any campground recommendations for a camping trip to the Cape? It can be tent camping or Popup camping.

We would like beach access and mid cape to maybe upper cape area.

Our next planned trip to Disney is not until early November. Can't wait for that!

I unfortunately do not have any experience with Cape Cod, but it sounds like a good place to camp.

Hopefully somebody will come along and be able to provide some input for you.

I don't know what part of the Cape you are looking to be in but we camped at Cape Cod Camp resort and cabins. I don't think I can post the link but a quick search will find it. We have not been here in a few years but my family had a really good time. It is very clean the nightly entertainment was a lot of fun. The day entertainment was just ok, but during the day we were at the beach or pool most of the time. One day we went on an amazing whale watch, we must have seen about 20 whales that day. The only draw backs are that is definitely is not on the cheap side of camp grounds and the resort is pretty big with close campsites.

How were the cabins? We are looking at a lot of mid cape areas - just about anywhere.

several years ago, we camped at Sweetwater Forest in Brewster. Its almost half way between the Cape Cod canal and P town. Also, its right next to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a paved bike path that goes for many miles.

The cabins looked good from the outside. We have a travel trailer so I never saw the inside of any cabins.

Check out Scusset Beach State Campground. It's very difficult to get extended reservations during the summer season on a site with water and electric, but a tent site is fairly easy. There is direct access to the Cape Cod Canal, with it's amazing bike path, and a beautiful beach. It is on the Upper Cape, but day trips are completely doable. Or, spend a few days there and the head for the outer Cape. There are really no other places right on the water that I know of, but many close to beaches. Scusset is one of our favorites, in fact we are finishing up a two week stay there right now!
You could also try Atlantic Oaks in Eastham; close to great beaches and the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Nickerson State Park! Very nice, big sites, access to the rail trail, not far form the National Seashore beach, a few ponds/lakes right there for kayaking and fishing, great playscape if you have kids. No hookups, though, if that's a big deal to you.

Every year we stay with my mother in law and her sister at a cottage rental in Eastham on the cape. It is a great location! Easy drive to P town, Chatham or Hyannis. Right near National Seashore as well as great Bayside beaches (we go to First Encounter Beach on Bayside...water must go a mile out at low tide...makes a GREAT place for kids finding crabs, snails, etc...great sand castle building sand!) There is a campground literally almost across the street for where we have stayed last few years. It is called Atlantic Oaks RV Park. I see tents and RV's there all the time. Backs up to the Cape Cod rail trail. I would love to stay there someday with the new toy. Go to Arnold's (just down the road) for lunch or dinner at great ice cream (they are cash only FYI). I love Cape Cod!! Good luck if you make a trip!

Oh, JUST on to Cape Cod (but not over canal yet) are the Scusset Beach State Park campground mentioned previously. Also the Bourne Scenic Campground. Stayed at Scusset many years ago as a boy with my grandma in my Great Aunt+Uncle's Winnebago for a week each summer...loved going to beach and riding bike along Cape Cod Canal bike trail. Stayed at Bourne before that, so barely remember it... However, drive by it each year and it looks great...I would love to stay there as well someday! :thumbsup2

I would also recommend looking at Sippewissett Campgrounds -- family run place in Falmouth right on the bike path that runs from Bourne to Woods Hole. We also liked Shawme Crowell in Sandwich, Ma. Right off of Rt 6a which is a beautiful drive. Please feel free to PM me. I live on the upper cape and would be happy to help in any way :)

Thank you for all the great suggestions! We are going to make a decision soon. I'm finding that some places are pretty well booked, but there is still some availability. Also some minimum stays (as high as 6 nights) in July. Can't wait to get up there!

We'll be in Eastham cottage July 26-Aug 2...can't wait myself either!
