Got back form MK tonight to find our ez-up canopy distroyed and damage to the tent. I can not thank our neighbors in our loop enough for securing our tent durring the storm and saving the electronics and bedding in our tent. So now we have a tarp riged over our tent to keep the rain out. We tried to switch to a cabin or hotel but wdw is sold out so we are going to try and have a better vacation.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. We got into All Star Music this morning everything is getting better. I will do a trip report when I have something other than a phone to post from.

Ugh. I'm sorry you had that "surprise" when you got back. Glad some things got saved -- fellow campers are cool that way.

Hope you can salvage the rest of your trip and still find some magic. :flower3:

Pop-up canopies are nice, but have to be handled with finesse to perform in the rain and storms. Staking or weights to hold them down is a must.

Some models are straight-legged, others are splayed outwards. Never splay out a straight legged canopy. The best position for either type of leg is to be pulled in towards the center, maybe an inch or 2, then staked. This puts the roof members under tension, pushing up and keeps the water flowing off the roof. Splaying a straight-leg or over splaying a splayed-leg will make the roof members sag, allowing the material to belly and fill with water.

Keep the material tight, adjust as needed.

Hope the rest of your trip is fantastic!

Sorry about your troubles.

Were the kids surprised when you hit Chef Mickey's the other morning?

I have some friends there now and she texted me yesterday about the storm...it must've been something. So sorry for the damage. Hoping things improve and you can enjoy the remaining vacation!

Hope things improve for you. I'm sure you're still having more fun than me despite your 'surprise' since your'e at the Fort and I'm not.

That's so sad. Sending pixie dust and I hope that the rest of your trip is spectacular.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but glad that no one was injured..Hope you have a great rest of your trip!:thumbsup2

Wow! Glad everyone is ok! Fellow campers are awesome! We were staying somewhere closer to home once, and while we were out one day, there was a huge rain storm. Wouldn't you know it, our neighbors came and lowered our canopy and even shoved a few things under our camper to keep them dry.
