I know this is a camping at Disney World forum, but anyone have any ideas for Camping while at Disneyland?

We're tentatively planning our summer vacation to include a visit to Disneyland and the new Cars Land next summer. Any websites, tips, tricks, suggestions from those here who may have been there? We'll be taking our 31' motorhome and have no toad, so just about any campground will work for us, don't need anything big or fancy.

Do I dare think of a night or two at one of the onsite resorts? Would that make it FEEL more like Disneyworld than staying offsite? It would be the kids' first night in a hotel, could be fun!

We don't take our trailer when we go to Disneyland. We usually stay offsite at the hotels right across the street. They are walking distance and actually a little closer to the Disney entrance than the onsite resorts. They are also about half the cost. Look into Candy Cane Inn or Camelot or one of those. Sorry, I don't know about the trailer camping; I just know I like to be in walking distance!

Three campgrounds are within easy walking distance:
  1. Anaheim Harbor RV Park
  2. Anaheim RV Village
  3. Anaheim Resort RV Park

We have not stayed in any of them but we've driven past the first one. It's quite barren, no trees, but all the services you need. We discussed it and decided we would stay there because we spend all of our time at the parks, but don't expect it to be like Fort Wilderness. I can't comment on the other two, we haven't seen them.

All the hotels are nice but the Disneyland Hotel is extra special to us. We grew up seeing it on TV and we've stayed there a few times when we wanted to splurge on a little "extra Disney Magic".

There's a great little hotel, the Candy Cane Inn, just a short walk away where we usually stay. Check out http://www.candycaneinn.net/ It's a family owned place and you feel right at home. There's a free shuttle to the parks but we usually walk in the morning and catch the shuttle at night! We highly reccommend the Candy Cane Inn.

We went last year to DisneyLand and stayed at Anaheim Harbor RV park which is very close to DL. The front portion of the park where they put the vacationers is strickly a large parking lot with lines on it. The sites were so tight that we had to purchase their "double site special" which for an additional $5 you get 2 sites together. We would not have been able to put out our slides and awning with a single space. They have a very, very small pool but nothing else. You could walk to DL but it would be a long walk with little ones especially after a day at the park. There is a public bus stop near the campground that will stop at DL but that's extra $$. I think the bus pass cost $18 for 3 days per person but my memory is alittle blurry on that.

If you don't need to stay in a camper (because of pets, etc), I would recommend staying at the Candy Cane Inn previously mentioned because it is literally across the street from the entrance of DL.

I strongly suggest you take this question over to the Disneyland board- there have been many many discussions about this, as well as thorough answers.

We have stayed at the Anaheim RV Village twice. It is nice and is walking distance to Disneyland. Had the car with us but only used it once. By the time you go to the Parking lot you are just as far as the campground. You can check them out on the web and make reservations too.

Thanks for all the info. Checked out the Disneyland section on on the forum a little. Need to do some searching there.
