Camping near Disney besides Ft. Wilderness?

I know how dare I even ask, LOL. We just found out we will be taking a last minute trip down. Oct 7th - Oct 17th. While we'd love to stay at the Fort, of course since it's so last minute there's nothing available. I did find a campground in Kissimmee, Tropical Palms Resort and Campground. They have availability and the prices are very reasonable, around $300-400 for 10 nights depending on the type of site we choose. I was wondering if anyone has any reviews on this place? Or if you have any other suggestions for Campgrounds close to Disney? I looked into the KOA and they want around $75-$80 a night. That's the same if not more that we'd be paying if the Fort were available!

There's a campground about 1 mile behind Universal called Turkey Lake. It's $15 a night. A little further drive but u can save some money. 407-299-5581

Tropical Palms is a very nice resort and is next to Old Town. They have nightly stuff going on at Old Town such as Car Shows, Games and Amusment rides and stuff. It's about 5 minutes from Disney.

Palms is private, not sure about the other one. Less chance of people living there (illegals). Plus only a couple of minutes from Disney at the end of a long day.

Thanks for all the replies! I looked into a few campgrounds and decided to go with Tropical Palms. I found some good reviews along with all of yours, and the price was just too good to pass up. To anyone who's a FL Resident, Tropical Palms offers a 25% discount. We have a FL Resident with us so we were able to book it with the discount. I'll come back here next month after our trip and let you all know how it went! Thanks again!

I just checked Disney has a full hook up site thru the 15th and premium site available from the 7th- 16th

I would take it and keep trying for the last day even after we arrived at the fort. Call them there web site is terrible 1-407-939-7429 after 7am until 10pm.

THANK YOU!! I got your PM and immediately called Disney. We booked a Full Hook Up 10/7 - 10/15. The CM was really surprised there was campground availability!! Booked a Full Hook Up ($57/night, yay! No discounts were available, oh well). We had to knock a day or two off of the trip, but we're totally fine with that because now we get to stay at The Fort!! Good thing I caught your PM in time because we had decided on the other campground and I was just about to book it! Thank you again sooooo much!!

Just keep trying to add those last 2 days. You may get those too Call every morning at 7am EST. Thats when Disney releases the sites that were canceled the day before.
