Camping in the Disney area

I was wondering if there are any nice rv campgrounds in the Walt Disney World area other than Fort Wilderness? My parents like to spend about 6-8 weeks in Florida during January and February. They usually stay about half that time at Fort Wilderness, but would like to find something else for the remaining weeks. They would need something that would accomodate a 34 foot motor home. Anything within an hour or so would work.

The koa off 27?29? is pretty nice. We stayed there a few years back, has a pool and easy on/off the highway. If they are KOA members, I think there is a discount or it may be worth joining. BTW I am not a member.

Unless things have changed in the past 5 years or so:

The KOA in Kissimmee (Hwy 192) is run down & they charge too much for what they have.

Tropical Palms (a little closer to DW) is OK, but again they charge too much.

Sherwood Forest (also on 192) is mostly full timers and some of those rigs are pieced together.

Fort Summit KOA at Hwy 27 & I-4 is OK, but I think most of their sites are grass (sand). I know the one we were in was rutted a bit and when it rained, were we sitting in a puddle.

Outdoor resorts at 192&27 is nice, along with Citrus Valley just North of them on 27, but they are pricey and they may want to just pay the extra and stay at FW.

We like Tropical Palms when the Fort is full. They are less expensive too. They have new ownership since 2 or 3 years ago. Lots to do, themed weekends, parties at the pool, movies at the pool, activities for kids, small mini golf course, basketball courts, tennis courts, small weight room, craft time and playroom for the kids. Plus, they are behind Old Town. You can walk there. My husband likes the car show on Sat nights.
