Hello everyone, I just booked 8 nights at Ft. Wilderness for May 11-20th, we plan on just tenting it. I was wondering if that would be ok for that time of year or not. I've never been to Ft. Wilderness, so if anyone has any special info or tips, it would be greatly appreciated also. TIA!

Im tenting in May also....weather should be great...maybe some showers, but lets keep our fingers crossed. The fort is a great campground....tons of stuff to do when not at the parks, in fact, Id suggest spending a full day or 2 just doing the fort thing, golfcarts are a friggin BLAST and the best way to get around the grounds, nightly singalong with chip and dale, followed by a disney movie with campfire for making smores while watching the movie. Great little beach with hammocks, boat rentals, horseback riding. Theres tons of other stuff to keep the fun rolling. You wont be dissapointed at all....browse through these threads...you will learn ALOT of tips and tricks and fun stuff...I promise you to get a laugh or two as well....the people on the camping boards here are sick and demented...and alot of fun to post with.

May be hot in May - be sure to bring plenty of Kungaloosh supplies!

Alright, I've been reading a lot of these posts today and I HAVE to ask...What the heck is Kungaloosh and how do I make it? If I make it and get to "see" the Otters it would be an awesome bonus as otters are my FAVORITE marine animal!! :rotfl2:

The only problems I would think about, 1: don't know if your dates are during Pride Week but if they overlap you should know about it before hand. 2: don't know if they are going to have the triathalon in 2008.... if they are you should be prepared for thousands of people in the fort. You should research these dates and see if they are going on during your visit. They first year we camped the last week of May, we got rained out, it was not a total disaster but we got our butts kicked bad. Ended up at the Port Orleans and that made up for the rain and bugs. The last 2 years where like dreams come true. We leave the day school is out for the kids which is now in early June.

Have Fun! The Fort is truly magical!

Yummy!! That sounds good. I could easily see some otters drinking that. Thanks for filling me in!!

I have tented there in May and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. We had a fan in the tent at night. We were able to swim and do a lot of things. It was not crowded at all. We were there only during the week though, not the weekends. Pride weekend is usually the first weekend in June, btw. Not sure when the triathalon is. When we go back after this next trip, it will likely be in May.
