I just made our reservations for the end of March!!! I'm so excited. We will be tent camping and I have a few questions:

1. How likely is it to rain?

2. What are your favorite camping meals

3. Show me pictures of your tent site!!!

I noticed a lot of the recipes using crock pots. I assume thats just for RV camping. Wouldn't it invite wildlife to leave a crockpot on a picnic table all day?

I haven't camped here before but I've tent camped out before. Yes you must be careful when cooking outdoors because any bit of food will attract critters. I haven't seen crock pot recipes but I have seen recipes where you can cook yummy food in cast iron pots over the fire. I would most definitely keep an eye on them anyways but you can get a cast iron cover for those pots and I'm sure a smart critter wouldn't want to come near the hot fire.
:)

Also, some put a milk crate over the crock pot and bungee it down. Critter problem solved.

Amandas4,

As far as the weather and chances of rain, Oct-May all average between 2-4 inches per month which is not too bad. Jun-Sep all average about 7 inches of rain per month.

We will be there last week of March also. Look for my green DIS sign.

PS - my favorite Fort meal is steak on the grill. Having learned that Trails End will sell the sides (fries, mac/cheese, mashed spuds), I'll next time do steak and take out sides.

I'll look for your sign Bama Ed. We'll be over for steaks!!!
I've been in Oct and it rained every afternoon but it was just a drizzle. that wouldn't be too bad. I am scared of a downpour and spending our whole trip wet. I have been so against camping since one wet trip when I was a teenager. I will be brave!!!

We will be there March 26-30. I can't wait. We are doing something new, renting a pop-up from fortcamperrental. We actually own a 31 ft. travel trailer but are looking forward to having someone set up up and break it down for us. My husband did not want to tow our camper from Alabama to Orlando. Gas is expensive!:)

We just rented a pop up from fortcamperrental this month. They provided awesome service. We just showed up with clothes and food and it was all set up and ready. For check out, we just packed our stuff and left. They handled the rest.

We asked for TV/DVD player for the teens and they also provided DVDs and a nifty trivia game called Disney Scene It which made the teens very competetive. The kids liked each having their own bed and the convenience of the fridge and microwave for late night snacking. They found that the pools are open 24/7, so they were swimming at 3 am.

We now have our own little pop up, but they service they provided of setting up and taking it down and having it fully stocked with everything needed is very tempting still!
